Well, I've made it through one week. Most of the extended family has gone home, except for my grandmother and cousin Julia. Now what?

Still thinking about you, hope you're doing alright.

I'm doing ok. Went to visit her today, actually. We're finally going to be able to get into her house tomorrow, so that should be good.

Hey Erica,

Still thinking of you - feel free to post or not post. There are few words for a tragedy like this.
Don't let anyone pressure you into getting over things and realize that it may be hard for friends and family not to pull away- they probably don't know what to say.

But... generally, just keep living, day to day, hour to hour, moment to moment. Slowly. Life will not be the same, but eventually you'll discover what your life is now.

This works here, I think.

I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?

I miss my big sister.

If anyone is on facebook, look me up. There's a group for her there, too.

Well, tomorrow was supposed to be the first hearing. My grandparents have flown in, I've taken four days off from work to prepare for (and recover from) it. Bastard's lawyers just filed a continuance. Now it's not happening 'til May.

Wow, I guess I came into this thread a bit late, but I'm terribly sorry about what happened.

The best thing though is, when she was alive, you and your family loved her. So she was able to lead a much happier life in 22 years, than most could lead in 70, at least I'd hope so.

Idoubt you remember me, but we signe dup around the same time I think, anyways, *hug*

Wish I could help.

I imagine this won't be the last time it gets postponed, but hang in there. I know it's of little consolation, but at least you have the chance to be around family.

Still thinking of you and your family.

Right, so we're now looking at the 21st of May for the first hearing. This is sooooooo frustrating, I mean, I shoukd have figured they'd pull something like this, but we had the grandparents fly out specifically, and I took four dys off from work this week, and now nothing's even going to happen. GRRRRR!

That really does suck. Hopefully it doesn't happen again and things can properly be finished soon.

Quick update (if I had been telling you guys what's been going on, that's what this would be. Sorry, I'm a slacker). Anyway, just got back from an arraignment today, he pled not guilty (of course). Good news is, no insanity defense for him. Things are moving along, though rather slowly. The actual trial has to start by February 11th, though it could be later or earlier, we won't know until October. If there are any details you guys want to know, don't hesitate to ask.

I can imagine it's frustrating to have to wait so long!

Has he been in jail this whole time?

Do you think you'll go to the whole trial, or will that be too difficult on you? I can't imagine having to go through all of that, but I guess it's good for closure, right?

He's in county jail, no bail.

I've been going to every hearing so far, and plan to go to every hearing in the future, and so is my dad. Mom doesn't go to all of them, it's too hard on her. It's very good for closure, especially watching his idiot lawyer get her ass handed to her by a judge (very funny).

I just saw this thread because you bumped it. I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry about your loss and that I know how hard this is. I just had an aunt that was murdered by her husband for no reason. He just pulled out a gun and shot her one Sunday afternoon.

When they asked him why he did it he said, "I don't know."

So I just want to tell you that I feel for you more then you can imagine.

Gah, I know we don't know each other, but I am sorry to hear about your sister, and since I've worked criminal cases before, I'm glad the... Jerk... for lack of wanting to be edited or chastised for using my well trained potty mouth... will not be able to plead insanity. We all know how easily those bastards get away with things.

I do, though, hope he never gets to spend another day as a free man.
and that he gets raped repeatedly whilst in jail.

Well, even if he did enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, it can't be used because of willful intoxication (I think that's the term). Since he was on drugs at the time, an insanity plea isn't an option.
