I use beans, no noodles, plus tomato sauce. I've eaten it several ways, including with noodles.

I've actually never heard of anyone sweetening their cornbread until Helen was trying to convince us it could also be a dessert last night.

I'm in shock!

Most southerners that I know would rather drop dead than sweeten their cornbread.

I hear the bells

I have never heard of noodles in Chili. Sounds interesting. I used pinto (sometimes a can of molasses-baked beans) and kidney beans, diced tomatos (canned), chili powder (extra Cayenne if kids aren't eating it), onion and corn. Sometimes other veggies that I have on hand (carrot, spinach, etc) go in the pot too. Mine's pretty simple and usually with whatever cans I have on-hand. I used to have beef before we went vegetarian.
. Then I'll add guac and sour cream to my bowl. Delicious!
Yes! Were you the one who taught me about guac in chili? I can't remember, I started doing it really recently and I LOVE it.

ETA: oh! And beer. I add half a bottle of beer to my chili if there's some in the fridge. So tasty.

Sheesh. I went over this in chat last night!

After your meal you decide maybe you are still a little hungry. You take a leftover piece of cornbread (savory) and cut it in half like a biscuit. Smear a healthy does of butter, add a tablespoon or two of sugar, heat in the microwave just long enough to make the butter melty. Eat.
Yay, I'm a llama again!

Nope, you taught me and I'll forever be grateful to you. I love it!

I eat leftover cornbread for breakfast the next morning, crumbled in a bowl with milk over it. Yum!

It was low 70s....
50s, here. And rainy.

But it just seems so early for soup. What if we have an Indian summer?!

It was 83 today and horribly muggy. Much hotter than what is typical.

I am disappointed that link didn't emit smells from my speakers or whatever.

I don't know why I was expecting that.

You guys. Deb is AWESOME. Seriously. She is irreverant and hilarious and just so happens to make delicious food and take pretty pictures. She even posts her total failures, so you know she isn't a snob. Plus, her son is ADORABLE, and she is sarcastic, and her husband is goofy, and her kitchen is unfathomably tiny.

Her feed has been added to my Google Reader (and the fact that I added another feed to it prompted me to read some of the almost 1000+ items in it... Been ignoring it for a couple of weeks).

Cake! My house smells like cake! Cake decorating final tomorrow!! Eek! I am super nervous!

(also, the cake I'm making, the cake I always make for "yellow" cakes, is SK's "Best Birthday Cake" a simple vanilla butter cake. And it is YUM).
