I imagine it has more to do with the number of people taking the exam. CA does 6 hour-long essays, while IL does 9 30-minute essays. We do the same multiple choice, though CA does one extra performance test. But even that should be easy to grade, as the test taker is given the law. I think they're just slow for the sake of being slow.

Tyler's teacher told us that she could send him to 5th grade for reading, but she doesn't want to demoralize the 5th graders.

I finished my awesome Batgirl hoodie/costume and it is awesome. Pics in the craft thread when Paul gets home and can take my picture (or I can figure out the timer function on my camera).

I shot loaded guns for the first time ever, today. A .22 rifle and a .243. I hit the bullseye every. freaking. time.

Color me impressed. I've shot guns multiple times in my life and have managed to hit the bullseye all of one time (probably). I am an awful shot.
