I was hanging out with some friends tonight and mentioned, within context of the conversation, that I had never seen Shaun of the Dead but that I had wanted to for a long time and heard lots of good stuff about it. Luckily, the person whose apartment we were at owned it and she slapped that puppy in.

I thought of Nomi pretty much the entire time.

What did you think? The funny thing is, I only saw it a couple years ago when we taped it off Comedy Central since that way we could finally see an edited version of it. Same thing with Hot Fuzz.

I thought it was fun and smart, in a very understated way. The use of music/sound was brilliant and part of what made it so funny was how realistic it was in places throughout.

I feel like jota asked this same question around here, or at least a similar one.

A friend of mine got a pet chameleon recently which made me think of Nomi and Pheeny.

Cool but I hope he takes good care of it! Chameleons are pretty high maintenance.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd kill one of those without even trying, but he and his fiance seem to know what they're doing.

But then I would have to punch him for that horrible accent, and I'd feel a little bad punching Dick Van Dyke.

Having a kid reminds me of Jan and Caspian, Steph and Brian, and Ela.

Nomi, I bought Birkenstocks today!

I used to live in Birkenstocks but when my last pair gave out 7 years ago I couldn't afford to buy a new pair. If I'm honest with myself, I can't exactly afford it right now, either, but my feet have suffered long enough and at least now I've got a healthy savings account, whereas before I was living pay check to pay check.

Anyway, Nomi, Birks will always remind me of you; they're one of the first things we bonded over!

Yay! I don't remember if I ever told you the site I buy from but it's direct from Germany and at least half the price of retail; free shipping though it takes about six weeks to arrive.

This was the last pair that I bought. I think they cost about $45 at the time. I've had them a couple years. I love them!

I was channel surfing the new channels* today and came across one showing Daria, which kept me entertained for the next hour. Also, apparently it's available on DVD now.

*We were forced to upgrade our dish and reciever box last week since the satellite the old one was pointed at is going to fall out of the sky soon and it supposedly wasn't compatible with the new satellite. The new basic package has more channels than our old one did too.

Ah, if you happened to see a trio of cars (two fusions and an explorer) on I 40 with Indiana plates a couple weeks ago, that was us en route to Gatlinburg for a bachelor party.

Also we misread your sign at first and thought it said Cookieville. We've decided that Cookieville is a much better name than Cookeville, so you might want to look into getting it changed.

bah, that's what everyone calls it anyway. How was the party? Gatlinburg is my favorite spring break destination.

It was fun. We had a big cabin with an awesome view right off Wears Valley Road and we mostly stayed there except for the white water rafting saturday afternoon and a couple of trips to Kroger for supplies (read: burgers, brats and beer).
