Halloween 2010

Postby Eaquae Legit » Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:51 pm

Halloween is a whole month away, but I had the chance to test-drive my costume yesterday, so I'm starting the thread early. Who's got plans? I demand pictures!

And I'm especially happy with the hair and necklace, so here's a close-up:

I wanted to be Mona Lisa this year but, as with every year for the past...too long, what's left of my social circle wants to sit at home watching horror movies and my coworkers suck too much to dress up with me. :( My life is so sad sometimes and this would be one of those times.

I wish we had something to do on Halloween this year. All of our friends are having their parties on the 30th, so we still need to figure something out for the 31st.

This year I am seriously, seriously going to find a red windbreaker, buy some cheap orange hair dye, and spill some Cheetos and beer onto a white t-shirt.

It is my year. I'm feeling it. I've planned on it for years, but red windbreakers are really hard to find, apparently.

I had dress up last year and I don't think I will this year. Before last year, I think the last time I dressed up I was 14 and Sherlock Holmes. Last year I was a sort of Temperance Brennan meets Abby from NCIS. Lab coat and hot pink tights, so much effort, haha.

I do still have my deerstalker hat on my desk though....hmmm.
So don't go worrying about me
It's not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect

I think I'm going to be Puss n Boots from shrek

verdict is still out whether I qualify to be fat puss or not.

my family always does a themed halloween and this years theme is the shrek movies. and it's also my grandma's surprise party for her 80th (about two weeeks early, so its a surprise) hence why I'm going back for halloween.

My mom made me a robin hood costume! It's not very authentic at all.. but it's cute! That counts for something, right?

It was the theme of the con. :D I might try to add a couple specimen jars and a magnifying glass, if I can find them before Halloween.

Lookin' Hawt, Ali!

I have no idea if/what I'll be for Halloween. Ginny has a monkey costume and I'll take her trick or treating.

Thinking ahead to the sci-fi con in April, I was thinking of going as Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender (show not movie), but I might be a bit too white. But how cute would it be if I dressed up the new baby as Aang?

You should get a Nerf gun and paint it to look like a steampunk raygun. That's one of the things we plan to do. If you make specimen jars, make sure they're plastic! Nothing worse than an accidentally shattered jar of protoplasm...

We're going as classic monsters this year.

Brian = Zombie. We need to pick up some clothes to rip up at a thrift store. We got some fake cuts and such for him to wear.
Steph = Vampire. This one worked well for me, since I found a seriously cool skirt at Goodwill and I can wear it with a red top and still have access to nurse the baby. A mummy costume would have meant a hungry baby!
Tyler = Skeleton. Scored some cute skeleton PJ's for 9 bucks! I can handle that price for PJ's AND a costume, all rolled into one!
Brayden = Frankenstein's Monster. Found a cute costume at Goodwill.
Kinley = Witch. I made her witchy tutu a couple nights ago and it's adorable!! I got some striped leggings and found a hat in the dollar spot at Target. (love the dollar spot!) I just have to find a onesie for her to wear. Do you know how hard it is to find black shirts for babies? It's nearly impossible! I really want a black turtle neck onesie in 9 month size so I can sew some white satin down the front and criss/cross with ribbon to make it look like a corset. After checking every local store and searching online for hours on end, I think I'm out of luck. Time to come up with a plan B.

Speaking of Halloween and classic monsters, Brian made a couple jibjabs, if anyone is interested.

I went as wolverine two years ago....the year after was my sister's wedding, and I was the minister so I just say I was a priest for Halloween.

I think this year a group of friends are trying a Gilligans Island theme and I've been recruited as the Professor.

p.s. my time off from Pweb has only made even worse and posting pictures... I tired and failed, miserably.[/img]

I've been told my costume will weird out some the young, unattached good Christian boys at the costume party. While this is an entertaining prospect, for my sister-in-law's sake I'm going to modify it a bit, add a little more chiffon on top.

And I need some advice: feather boa, yea or nay?

You all are sorely tempting me to start my spamming campaign. I shall indulge a little.

Decidedly not Halloween 2010, this would be from sometime between 1988 and 1992, thinking at least the 90s. Aren't I creepier than sin? What was my mother thinking?

Wow, Human. Damn you're cute. Only one question, how is that Robin hood?

Awesome costume EL, I love the steam punk looks. I do agree with fawkes that you should get a raygun. That would really complete the look, IMO.

now lets see if i can just post a facebook photo from last year's halloween...

Edit: nice, i worked. This is what i look like as a blond.

I have no pictures.

Both of my sons wished to wear their football uniforms to trick-or-treat. Then both were invited to Halloween parties -- with their teams. So Mooselet ended up going with Spongebob (had the costume from a play he was in last spring), and Superstation is going as a slightly modified Stitch (from a play Mooselet was in three springs ago). Squoose went as a care bear (Cheer Bear), and Witthany was a pumpkin/Jill-O-Lantern.

They are all adorable.

Pictures to follow.

I went as my costume above, except it was in a house, so the boots came off. So the fishnets came off, too. And then a thread popped on my skirt, so that came down. But it still worked as a costume, just less awesome slightly.

Brent went as a Browncoat.

Someone came as The Eighties, but the aviators were real old glasses, so noone wanted to actually wear them. We all tried them on, though, and took pictures. It was decent fun, and there were spiderweb mini cheesecakes.

Happy All Soul's Eve, everyone!
