I found out my physics teacher's back woods where I will be living most of the summer has an ENORMOUS bank of really nice clay. Also, he has a kiln.

Thanks guys!

They're really time consuming, but still pretty easy.

Cut fresh pineapple into thin slices crosswise (not TOO thin, though, or they'll burn). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set the oven to its lowest setting. (200 degrees on mine). Bake for about 3 hours, turning with tongs every hour or so. Remove from oven and let cool on a rack. When cool but still pliable, either use a flower shaped cookie cutter, or hand shape petals with a pair of good kitchen shears (I did the latter, as I have no cookie cutters. Time consuming, but I liked having that control). Grip flower in the center and gently pull up on the petals to give the flower a more realistic shape. Return to the rack to dry completely.

All in all, it's pretty much an all day project. But impressive and fun! (Also, super tasty!)

I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

What's left for me to say, Kelly? I think everyone covered anything I might have had to add.

Though, I have to say they'd be too pretty for me to eat; I'd feel guilty robbing the world of a pretty.

My second attempt at a canvas painting. How do I put this? I don't do feely type stuff well at all, it scares me, but I am okay with this sort of mass-produced-look type stuff. I shrank this picture to make my mistakes way less obvious. I hope. ;)

I think I have one blank canvas left -the others have been promised to my brother. Too late for a craft exchange, or an "Alea wants an excuse to make something, anyone want something?" deal? Where, if you can't or don't want to trade, I'd still do it and send it for nothin', so long as you promised not to use it as a dart board., coaster, or table leveler. It's nothing too big; 11"x14" flat panel, so it's not the boxy kind.

I love it! I'd speak for it, but I don't currently have anywhere to put it. :(

I don't mean the one I posted. That's my brother's; I meant, if anyone wants me to make one for them specifically, I have a pure blank, white canvas I'd try my hand at for the experience. :)

Oh me me me! I'd love something to hang on my horribly empty blank white walls. And I'd try to find the time and inspiration to send you something as well

I would definitely trade another piece of jewellery for one, if you could hang onto it for me for a while...

That's so sad to have to leave it behind... Are you sure they won't let you just cut out a piece of wall and take it with you?

Bam!

Bad lighting, sub-par skill, crazy girl at the pencil. *grin* I still feel better having done it; it had been way too long since I drew something and I'm not sure that counts but I'll pretend it does.

They're lyrics from a Paramore song. That is about half of a 11"x14", so 5.5"x7" or so. The "s" was a bunch of fun.

This weekend my husband and I built a cat tower from scratch. We were able to get some carpet tubes and plywood for free, so the total cost of materials (faux fur and sisal rope) was around $20!

My Tetris quilt. It still needs a border and the actual quilting part, but the main piecing is done.

I still need to take pictures but I'm just so in love with my new messenger bag/purse that I have to post about it! It's from the MCC, the part where they make recycled items, and the outside is made from an old leather jacket and the inside is an old suit jacket. They integrated the jacket pockets right in, so they're the purse pockets, and there's a lovely crochet doily stitched onto the front flap.

It's such an amazing idea, and so well executed! I love it so much! It looks and feels like a designer bag, but it's all recycled materials and craftmanship, and what I paid for it goes right back into MCC programs. I'd try to make them myself, but I don't want to detract from the MCC.

My albino, flannel board black sheep. I made him at my training today.

He's a special sheep, not least of all because he has two different sized eyes; he has built-in Elf repellent and this is necessary, as Elf eats sheep.

The Lily hair clip I made to decorate the bottom tier of my sister's diaper cake that I'm making for her baby shower on Saturday. I wanted to do a lily, since her baby will be named the same, but couldn't find a tutorial for how to make one online anywhere, so I planned and executed it all by myself!

Worked on reversal black and white film yesterday. You pretty much develop the film as normal then you bleach and clear the film and expose it to light ( or chemically with a foggant), then redevelop it.

Image

It's muddy and lacks highlights as this is the second roll which I left out the silver solvent to see if it was the problem with the first roll.
