Gyromancy vs. Geomancy

Gyromancy vs. Geomancy

I always get these two words confused. I think gyromancy is a cool thing, but every once in a while I look up "Geomancy" thinking it is Gyromancy and I think... "hey, that's not as cool as I thought, huh". But then I see my mistake and all is well.

If we take this as a potential fantasy element for a story, I've always preferred touch-based clairvoyance. The Dead Zone is a good example. There were also the sniffers from the movie Push (though that's not a great movie) and the Palantír (seeing stones) from Lord of the Rings. The Palantir were especially awesome, with their whole "show you the truth in order to deceive you" angle.

But straight up divination? Not a fan.

Now how does this stack up against the two kinds of bone reading? The one from Preditor 2 where you toss bones that are marked like dice and read how they fall. Or like in Last air bender where you pick one from a pile and throw it in the fire to read how it cracks.
