13. sorry, my wife hordes the computer so she can never get the f*** off facebook/farmville. i barely get to check my email more than once a week. my webcomic reading turns into a once every two week 1 hour affair. i'm going to have to make a change.
i can't afford another computer, i would lose the house in a divorce and i LOVE this house. i would totally go to jail if i killed her. i'm WAY too pretty to go to jail. suggestions?

I think the lurkers should join and post. I know you're out there. There's always at least 3 guests on and at least one is looking at Milagre. Come join the ranks. Come say you were a lurker but this thread made you come out of the closet. Then I can take credit.

Would you like me to reactivate it for you? I'm sorry to hear about the crappy years - hope things are looking more up, now. It's good to see you again and I've missed you! Welcome back, always!

Sooo, I'm not quite sure if I'm really a lurker, because I haven't actually been hanging around and knowingly not posted anything. I just haven't been on the computer in forever, and isn't lurking considered being present, but in a hidden or barely discernible state? So if I haven't been present, I was technically not lurking. But I suppose I'm just making this up to make myself feel better. Hi, again. (I may try to stick around)

I solve this problem by posting threads that DO interest me. Interesting news tidbit caught your ear? Share. Funny story about the day? Share. Feeling random? Share.Hard not to lurk when most of the threads simply don't interest you.

That's a great solution, problem for me is
I'd rather not post something new, that no one posts in, because it'll annoy me.
Except, it's less I'm afraid/nervous, and more that I have this pet peeve about getting ignored.Sometimes I wish we had a thread where we could test the waters for new thread topics we're on the fence about starting, rather than just starting a thread only to have it die off immediately because no one is interested. I've almost started about three different threads this week, but haven't, because I'm not sure if they'd float.

Ahh, there, there. *pats on head* You can always read all the interesting conversations people had before you. Nah, I felt the same way, but there are enough interesting conversations here that aren't about your favorite books with interesting enough people to keep most content enough.

You're assuming no response = being ignored, which isn't the case at all. I don't respond to a s***** of things because I get sick of seeing my name all over the place but I'm not ignoring anyone/thing.I have this pet peeve about getting ignored.
I suppose for all intents and purposes, it comes across that way online and I'll be the first to admit it's not an altogether fun feeling; I am also more likely to see it as being ignored the more important to me the thing being unresponded to is*. But surely, if it's closer to the fluff end of the spectrum, you can learn to live with it?
*Case in point, I got sad no one wanted to talk about artsy stuff with me, so rather than watch it sit there all lonely and the like, I just deleted it after a day. I still tried, though.

Trying is the first step to failure. The lesson here is, never try.*Case in point, I got sad no one wanted to talk about artsy stuff with me, so rather than watch it sit there all lonely and the like, I just deleted it after a day. I still tried, though.
I like to keep my ignored threads alive though, kinda like a trophy of the various topics I've killed or am alone in their interest. *waits to be shot by a grammar nazi*

That's another thing. I don't like to post fluff threads. At least, nowadays.
Unless I'm copying someone's thread or something.
If I post a thread, it's something I deem important enough to discuss.
And sometimes it feels more like being ignored, if you consider the thread an issue that a lot of different people should have a perspective on.
For example, my recent battle in the Friday Night Fight thread. The recent battle was one I picked specifically because I thought pretty much everyone could give their two cents. It's Ender vs. Bean. And this is an Ender's Game forum. However, its gotten few replies. Only one person has replied.
Now, for most of the other battles, it's safe to assume that some people don't know one fighter or both fighter, and so wouldn't have any idea.
However, since this is an Ender's Game forum, it's safe to assume that most people have read the books - and that most people should have the know-how to present a point.
With that in mind, the situation feels more like getting ignored.

The problem with the Ender vs. Bean battle is that I'm pretty sure there have been variations of it in the past in the Ender novels section. Most people probably just don't feel like discussing it again.

Possibly.
I mean, I know I've read an Ender vs. Bean thread before.
However, that's why I outlined three different possible scenarios. Instead of people simply giving pre-established general answers, for why one is better than the other, they have to think about how they'd act in specific situations. Which should give it a fresh spin on things.
At least, that's the way I saw it.
