LOOK AT THE CUTE!
You definitely got the cute down but you know where you fail? I hovered my cursor over Ginny to find out what the occasion was for Special Google Image o' the Day and got diddly squat.

Ah yeah we worried about that... especially as one scene involved a ghosts rights protest which in reality meant people with white sheets over their heads walking around with placards. It could have gone really wrong.

I've never heard of a Toque, but i've had many beanies over the years.

I had never heard of a toque until I heard Jayelle say it (more than once). :)

For the record, this is what a beanie looks like.

This, however, is a toque.

Interesting how etsy.com has a hat subcategory for beanie (along with 17 others) but not for toque.

Hmm, I'm not taking off. This is rather peculiar. What's the purpose of a propeller beanie if it doesn't make you fly? Not 'style', certainly.

I get made fun of for calling stocking caps stocking caps in California. Apparently stocking caps are beanies out here. which sounds stupid to me, a beanie is a cousin to a fez, not a respectable stocking cap.

You all sound like me, complaining when someone calls a "hooded sweatshirt" a "hoodie." Now even my mom calls them that. They didn't have that name for years, why did they suddenly need a stupid-sounding name? Because they became super-popular?

"Stocking cap," "toque" or "hooded sweatshirt" all sound unnecessarily formal/technical, the equivalent of calling underwear "undergarments."

This is the longest discussion I've ever managed to elicit on pweb and all I did was post a picture of myself wearing a beanie. Go figure.

This is a side by side comparison of my pregnancy with Tyler (on the left) and this pregnancy (on the right). I started at the same weight and these pictures are taken at the same point in time in each pregnancy (about 2 1/2 weeks ago). Yesterday, I had a woman who worked in Labor & Delivery for 30 years ask if I was due in 6-8 weeks. Nope! Just 2 more weeks!

Totally and utterly agree. Seriously, is this just a midwestern thing? I have never heard those called beanies before.

Wow, Steph! Looks like you're having a little one this time! How much did Tyler weigh when he was born?

I was super-small with Ginny and she was only 6lbs 1oz.

I'm so excited for you guys.

Well, I asked my husband (who is from California) what he would call the thing on Wil's head and he said "a hat". I'm from NY and that is what I would call it too, just a hat. Not a beanie or a stocking cap, although I have heard both those terms.

It's a beanie. And hooded sweatshirts=hoodies.
My roommate calls the beanies with ear flaps toboggans. But she's from Georgia and crazy so....

And Steph--you look adorable! I'm so excited for you!

Steph, you look wonderful (in both shots) but I just have to say: two weeks?! I know I shouldn't be surprised because you mentioned a due date in the name thread but I also remember when we first got the hint by way of your custom title!

And hat = baseball cap for me, where baseball cap is being overly technical and hat is just right. If I remember cowboy types (of the American or Mexican variety) exist, I might consider calling theirs hats, too. *gives Shannon beanie high-five*

You people and your... terms! They're just all hats!

Except "Jayne Hat" is an acceptable term. But it's a "hat", too. Possibly a "really sweet hat".
