Have you fallen in love with an E.G. character?
I havent signed on in a while, and Ive been poking around today and read some interesting posts. The Q/A post is quite interesting, but as I havent been around much I dont know any of you well enough to ask a question. So, I decided to create this thread because its the one thing Id like to ask every member. Have you fallen in love with an E.G. character? If you were able to hop outside and conjure up a character, who would it be?
I know I for one have found myself way, way lost in though as it pertains to a character and then realized I had been assigning attributes to him/her that go beyond fictional characters. Am I alone in this?
If I could conjure up a character, I think it would be Milo. I could bore everyone to death with all of my reasons, but they are significant and well thought out.
So- if you've read this and Im not the only one who has gone overboard with my thoughts about an E.G. character, lets hear who it is. While I refrained from explaining, that doesnt need to be the status quo for this thread.

Peter.
Sadly, I was thinking about him just last night when I couldn't fall asleep. Mostly what he looks like and who in RL I think comes close (I think I was starting to decide Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks normal yet charming enough to be an older teenage Peter).

Hahahaha, that's funny, Peterlover. And welcome to PWeb, Glass. I think PL14 meant that she got something on her books.... Presumably while going around completely oblivious to her surroundings while brushing up in the Enderverse. And I have to say, I can't imagine if I had waited forever to finish this series... I would not be the same person.
As to stay on the topic of this thread: I think I fell in love with Peter... At least just a little... Not the original Peter, though, I liked Peter in CotM.

I fell in love with
1. Bean, doomed to a short life
2. Valentine, so perfectly good and innocent, but still with biting wit
3. Peter (from CotM) trying hard not to be the demon he once was
4. Petra, desparately keeping Bean alive through children and marriage
5. Poke.

i wouldnt say i fell in love with Ender. but i grew fond of him. like really fond of him from liek the beginning. like i started balling when he died. but now that im writing this, i might have fallen in love with him. but not in a way that i base every guy on ender. im not obsessed. but if there is a guy like him(not in a way that he feels to take care of me or being known as a "kid killer") than i would be intested. (oh and not in a way he would "lead me on" like he did alessandra)
"leaving both her husbands behind, the one whose life had a monument and a book, and the one whose only monument was in her heart."
Well I can't really think about falling in love as in an obsessive, hormone-induced feelings that randomly explode whenever you're close to your crush as popular culture oftenly implies happening to teenagers. I'm in my teens now, but those stuffs just... don't.... happen.
I find myself too picky for boy-girl relationships. Lol never had a boyfriend And Ender is just the picture of perfection. The most acceptable Gary-Stu ever for me. I can imagine devoting myself for that kind of person, you know, lol, like "I can die for him" kinda stuff. Now I don't obsess over Ender, but I hope my future man will just have some of his characteristics.

I reread Ender in Exlie yesterday. And I realized that I based the guys at my school on "Ender's Standards." I like guys with the traits that Ender has. Would that count as falling in love with him?

Not really, that would just be projection. And this would be no different from girls who evaluate boys on how much they are up to "Edward's Standards." And it is always worthwhile remembering that in general humans see what we want to see and don't evaluate other humans (particularly of the opposite sex) objectively or fairly.I reread Ender in Exlie yesterday. In other words if you like a guy your brain will find some way to put him into the "similar to Ender category" even if he is really nothing like Ender. In stories, movies, TV, and real life whenever a person in love is told "can't you see what kind of person x is?" in general, no, they can't. most of the time they're only seeing what they want to see, an ideal in their heart, rather than really seeing the other person they're "in love" with.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

Started getting a huge crush on Ender early on in EG, which later became the running gag with my RP buddies that I was the resident pedobear. Really though, it was because he reminded me of my (female, mind you) vampire from our current game (I'll spare the boring details and say that she's essentially almost exactly like Ender except she's an 11 girl(this was unintentional.)).
The more I read though, the more I liked him. Not so sure why.
Also I was crushing hardcore on Jane. I love a snarky woman.

Sleep, by this hand of mine that gently watches over you
I remember you laughing, you crying, you angry
I will never forget for all time until my life is exhausted-

Definitely Ender. I realized recently that the books that took me the longest time to get through either had minimal or no Ender at all. The Shadow series kind of dragged while I flew through the Ender series. And I personally believe the Shadow series was better, more exciting, a page turner. The difference is that I was more willing to pick up a book with Ender at the forefront. It took me two weeks to read the Ender series (would've taken less time without my taking more than a week to find Speaker for the Dead at a library). It took me two months to read the Shadow series, and I'd purchased a boxset of that series, so there really are no excuses. Ender in Exile took me two days. Shadow Puppets took me three weeks (by miles, the book I dwelled longest on in the whole Enderverse).
I pretty much hated Children of the Mind for obvious reasons.

I think I might have the tiniest crush on Ender circa Ender in Exile.

Petra, for sure.
Re:
Me too! I also got a bit of a hero-worship, man-crush on Bean. I'd like to be half that smart.I think I fell in love with Petra a little bit, I love a good woman with a sharp wit and a smart mouth.
