I learned how to drive on a stick and only drove stick for about the first two years. The car I have now is an automatic and while it's nice for driving in places like Seattle, I miss my stick : (For me, it makes driving more interesting. The only time it's annoying is if I'm in traffic which is very rare where I live.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

I once talked to someone who was used to driving stick and was driving an automatic once. They said their left foot kept hitting the clutch on the left. Except, it wasn't quite a clutch...I never understood why people like driving a manual more than driving an automatic. It's so much easier- no need for that annoying clutch.

My Snuggie!
Reece's response to my Snuggie!
That cat goes insane whenever I wear anything fuzzy or fleecy. The Snuggie has the power to send him into a state of total feline bliss. A sort of Catopia. I have never known a cat who takes such delight in kneading as he does. At the end of it, he rolls over with his big expanse of tummy and his giant paws pointed up purring calmly and, I swear, looking like he's grinning. It's the picture of delighted relaxation. It's kind of hilarious.

There's another home somewhere,
There's another glimpse of sky...
There's another way to lean
into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

That I just saw Carbon Leaf in concert. And discovered another awesome band in the process: Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. When was the last time you listened to a rock group that busted out a tuba solo?

I officially love this spider. It's so cute. It's got a smiley face on it.

*Unexpected TM from the love of my life
*Steph calling me just about any pet name, babe being a particular favorite
*Adam helping me to write my movie...even though he is writing it all by himself
*Getting musical mail from Kelly
*That Elf has stuck around after a year (practically)
*That after 6 years, Goat is still looking out for me
*Jeff's all around awesomeness (seriously, I want to live near this guy, only he has to move, because I want to hang out with him and make video game paper dolls and listen to music while wearing bathrobes backwards)
* *channels TMNT* I love being a Twinny!
It might be easier to say that today, more than usual, I love Pwebbers.
But more than that, even, I love sleep. As soon as it's okay to go do that, I'm soooo there.
Wait, I also love hearing the pitter-patter of little puppy feet as he chases the dog, who has this whole "I like you but have to act like I don't" attitude towards him.
No, no, there's more. I love that my storytime kids were playing hide and seek with me after and had their play-dough creations "bite" my hands.

I really like this idea:
Male brains tend to interpret any female interest as sexual interest because evolutionarily human brains are designed that way. A male brain that throws up a lot of false positives yields better reproductive dividends than a brain whose neurons do not operate in that manner, so the brain that can't interpret female behavior accurately wins out in the evolution game.

Aww, thanks, Alea. Maybe whatever job I end up getting after college will bring me down there...*Jeff's all around awesomeness (seriously, I want to live near this guy, only he has to move, because I want to hang out with him and make video game paper dolls and listen to music while wearing bathrobes backwards)

My on-site supervisor got me a copy of Coraline. I forgot it at work but it's mine to bring home and watch.
My conversations with my storytime kids. It's a small enough group that I can slow things way down and really talk to them; about the book, about their lives (they offer up topics, I just go along), whatever.

Galician’s myths (taken from Galician, Mary-Lou and Merskin, Debra L., eds. Critical Thinking About Sex, Love and Romance in the Mass Media. Mahwah: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 2007):
1) Your perfect partner is cosmically pre-destined, so nobody/nothing can ultimately separate you.
2) There’s such a thing as “love at first sight.â€
3) Your “soul mate†should know what you’re thinking or feeling without you having to tell them.
4) If your partner is truly meant for you, sex is easy and wonderful.
5) To attract and keep a man, a woman should look like a model or centerfold.
6) The man should not be shorter, weaker, younger, poorer or less successful than the woman.
7) The love of a good and faithful true woman can change a man from a beast into a prince.
8 ) Bickering and fighting a lot mean that a man and a woman really love each other passionately.
9) All you really need is love, so it doesn’t matter if you and your lover have very different values.
10) The right mate “completesâ€â€”fulfilling your needs and making your dreams come true.
11) In real life, actors are often very much like the romantic characters they portray.
12) Since mass media portrayals aren’t “real,†they don’t really affect you.
