Pweb or Pweb?

Postby Jeesh_girl15 » Mon May 04, 2009 3:03 pm

I've been wondering for a while: I Pweb pronounced P-web in two sylables, or Pweb in one? I don't think anyone has specified.

It's written, not oral, therefore it doesn't matter.

You've never said it aloud, before?

It's two words, because it's just the shortened Philotic Web.

Only if you stress the P too much. You gotta let it flow off your tongue, like Puerto Rico. Pweb!

Ha Ha Ha. I though of it as Pweb when I first read the abbreviation. not Pee-web.

Imagining this sentence with an Irish accent is strangely entertaining for me.

Unfortunately my accent is disappointingly dissimilar to Lucky the Leprechaun's, so it doesn't sound quite as humourous as you might imagine when I say it.

Good thing I have a full variety of Irish accents to roll through my brain. ;)

It's the "Puer" that gets me, I think. Probably because I have never heard it said with a real Irish accent, thus it is harder for me to comprehend.

P. Web!

For some reason I really don't like when people use pweb.

You gotta let it flow off your tongue, like Puerto Rico. Pweb!
'Pueblo' would be a better example of pronunciation were it said altogether; just nix the 'lo.'

With that said, I say it P. Web and type it as Pweb, while calling the members P. Webbers (typed as Pwebbers).

I'm going to bump this because that's the sort of bad person I am.

I've always thought of it P. Web, but it sounds harsh saying it that way. It is a good deal more fun to say Pweb, but it never pops into my head as such.

I vote we find a better way to shorten it. Like... Philet. Or Phib. Phoebe? Ooo, I like Phoebe. Phonetic? The letters aren't in the right order... Lice Net. There's a winner.

To be honest, at this stage, I don't think any kind of conditioning could get me to say it as anything other than Pweb.
