Wow, it's like Zero was channeling Jebus or something.Oh, yes, badass. That's definitely the word I would use to describe this. Parabolas are in this year. Just like italics.Suffice it to say; I've never done ANYTHING like that before and it creeps me out a little bit. Though the idea was pretty badass.

Edward James Olmos came to my high school, when I was a student there, to give a talk. The admin had behavioral expectations for us of course and the only thing EJO asked was that we not ask for autographs when it came time to passing the mics around. So what do my classmates do? Act like the biggest bunch of asshats in the history of asshattery and ask pretty much nothing but questions about getting his autograph. He actually yelled at us and told us we should be ashamed of ourselves for our behavior. I agreed.

Well, he sort of had it coming. You don't tell a bunch of high school kids exactly what you don't want them to do.Edward James Olmos came to my high school, when I was a student there, to give a talk. You motivated me to look at my store for Haagen Dazs. Since I had my teeth out, I couldn't have anything with pieces in it, so I chose the Orchard Peach Sorbet and it is addictively good.haagen dazs peanut peanut brittle ice cream. OMG explosion of awesome in the mouth. mmmmm.

this is disconcerting. I'm not so certain that's rape at all, even if it literally can be considered so in England.

That makes me rage. It's like... so entirely dumb that the area of rape is becoming blurred in that way. It is as if, if you are anticipating sleeping with some woman, the guy would need to bring his lawyer over to her place and get her to sign a document stating that it is consensual.
I WAS TOO DRUNK TO REMEMBER AGREEING TO SLEEP WITH YOU THUS IT IS RAPE.
God I hate lawyers. Might as well charge all men who have ever gone to a bar in the last thirty years and picked up a woman of this one.
No offense to those who live in England but, if this isn't made up (someone tells me this source likes to make things up) AND if the judge rules against the man.. your country is officially a pieceofshit. One thing that makes me think it might be fake is that this guy is a chef named Bacon. Funny, but REAL?!
ETA: Not fake, and he was cleared yesterday.

Wil, even having a lawyer notarize a consent form wouldn't make it enforceable, under that kind of situation, because they wouldn't have the ability to consent, whether orally or in writing. Basically, there is no effective way for you to get consent if she's been drinking.
And could the man, who had also been drinking, file complaint of rape against her, then?
And this kind of s***** reasoning isn't just happening in England, it's right here in the States, too. College campuses have awareness seminars about how you could "accidentally" rape someone because you're both drunk and a girl's consent isn't valid if drunk.
It's pretty f****** ridiculous and I'm glad the English courts had the sense enough to throw it out.

Men are always willing participants, everyone knows this... and that is why women are never accused of rape.
It took 45 minutes for the jury to come up with a verdict. I imagine that time was spent as such:
*over tea and crumpets, all other jurors trying to convince the one hold out*
"You see, you go to a bar. You enjoy a few drinks. You find a woman who has done so also. You get to talking, and within the hour you're naked at one of your houses. A few hours later you wake up, feel like crap, fumble your way back to a state of dress, and leave."
"And this happens.. all the time?"
"ALLL THE TIME."

And Syphon knows this because because it's profitable for his careerWhich is usually the case. Upwards of seventy percent of college students admit to having sex while intoxicated and it falls pretty evenly across both genders. And if men are too drunk to remember?
fwiw, making that short and sending it around hollywood viral style is what got Jason Reitman a feature gig directing Thank you for Smoking which led to Juno.

Ellen DeGeneres cracks me the hell up and seems like such an awesome person.
The Colbert/Serenity thing reminded me of her because in some weird way, in my head, that whole thing is like Ellen begging Oprah to be put on O magazine and coming up with ridiculously funny covers as suggestions for how they can share the cover.
And this post has inspired me to make a list of celebrities I'd like to hang out with, with the assumption that what you see is what you get. Yay lists!
ETA: Also, I tend to visualize Pweb as a playground these days (I used to imagine it more as a town or a high school atmosphere).
Swings are fun.

My mom used to be the biggest Ellen fan... until she remembered Ellen was a lesbian. Now Ellen's show is "dirty" because she keeps bringing up her wife, and she insists Ellen does it on purpose. It keeps me mildly entertained, to be sure.

So I was just at my local book store buying a copy of "The Worthing Saga", because (and this may shock you) even after years and years of loving the Ender/Shadow series to death, I've never actually read any of Card's non-Ender books. Any how, the cashier looks at it and asks me if I've ever read "Ender's Game". Naturally I tell him that it's one of my favourite books of all time, and before I know it, we're going on about how awesome the entire series is (yes, including the Shadow books and EinE). I was sooo tempted to tell him that I'm actually mentioned in the acknowledgments of two of the books, and have signed copies of them. I probably would have blurted it out eventually if I didn't have to get going and let the guy get back to work. I should have told him about pweb though. He said that he loved discussing the books with other fans.
I love meeting random Ender fans. Just knowing that they've read and enjoyed the books automatically makes a stranger feel like a friend. This was even better than the time I saw a random stranger reading "Shadow Puppets" on the subway. (I didn't actually talk to him though)

Those are a couple of good looking lesbians. Much more attractive than a lot of the other non-internet lesbians you see.Aww, that's too bad; she's hilarious and as for her relationship/marriage, well, I'm a fan of that, too. They look so happy together.
(I also love the dress; I'd look terrible in it, but I love it all the same.)

I should re-read Songmaster, but Lost Boys and Magic Street were both very enjoyable.Songmaster and Harts Hope are two of my favorites. Lost Boys is good too.
