Since i have been on PWEB...
Since i have been on PWEB...
How has your life changed?
A number of us have been here a looooooong time. PWEB members have gone through over a half dozen engagements, at least 3 weddings, at least 2 child births. Countless members have started and/or finished high school, a ton have started and/or finished college. We have had religious conversions, inter-board romances and even what was possibly a fake death.
So how has your life changed since you have been here? This is not meant to be limited to how your life has changed because of PWEB, but also the changes off the board that you have been through.

How have our lives changed since we've joined PWeb, or since you joined it?
Look at the title, narcissist.

I love this thread John!
I was just thinking about this last night, because of losing all the old posts when I announced important stuff.
I joined pweb right as I was starting college. Pweb has seen me through 2 not so great years of college (but pweb gave me some great friends during that time period), quitting college, going to Europe for the first time, going to Vegas to massage school, coming back to Colorado, meeting the love of my life, all through my pregnancy, my sweet son being born, watching him grow over the last year, and now buying our first house. It blows me away how much pweb has watched me change. Thanks to the friends here who helped me through all of this, back at ye older pweb, and those of you who I've more recently become closer to.

Wow, pweb should be made into a television show. How has your life changed?

My life has changed a whole lot since I first joined pweb. I joined as an introvert in highschool, and now i'm one of the most outgoing people I know. I don't think anything is the same in my life, except maybe my cat. He dosen't really change.

I think I went into detail in my "four years here" post, but I'll go over the highlights (of the past 4 1/2 years)
Education/ Work life:I graduated from University with an English BA and became a Library Ass., While doing so, I worked at A&W, Subway(x2) and Orange Julius at various points.
Living Situation: dorm room with roommate, dorm room without roommate, Apartment #1, House with three other girls, Apartment #2 and Apartment #3.
Romantic Life: broke up with bad boyfriend (who actually introduced me to OSC which brought me here), started dating good boyfriend, brought him to pweb, got engaged, got married, celebrated 2 anniversaries.
Exciting events and Milestones: Turned 21, 22, 23, 24 +25 years old, visited Australia, visited Ontario for the first time, saw Niagara Falls, Celebrated the birth of one neice and one nephew (and I'm looking forward to another!)
That's all I can think of for now.

gosh, so much has happened since i joined pweb. when i joined i was still 15 and had no clue about anything. didn't start really talking to anyone for a couple years, then i became more involved with pweb, which was also the time paul/otaku was beginning to be active. i started talking to naomi, and later john and kimmie and kirsten and some others here and there. i also became seriously depressed and plunged into a very low point in my life. later ended up breaking up with someone who i still miss very much. then i graduated high school and started college, and i feel like i became a whole new person. i swore i would be outgoing and meet people, and ended up being the only one of my roommates (out of 4) who ever did anything my freshman year. i decided to go pre-med. then i decided to be involved in leading a bible study... and that took up a ton of my time and still does. i briefly dated another guy but it didn't go anywhere. and now here i am, living with my best friends and almost done with undergrad.

hmm... let's see. Started dating my first girlfriend, had my first kiss, graduated from high school, moved out of my parents house, broke up with my first girlfriend (after 2.5 years) Transferred to a University 8 hours from home (as opposed to 5 minutes at my old school). I also met Bob 2.0, which has actually led to some fairly big decisions in my life.
Technically, I was on Ye Older Pweb, but I only know that because I remember posting there on 9/11. Other than that, I was barely even a lurker, so it doesn't really count.

I have lived in North Carolina, Texas, and North Dakota
I started grad school, and got my M.A. in counseling
With that comes the fact that I saw my first clients and had my first internship experience. And wrote my thesis. I will miss my posts about that.
I began working on my Ph.D.
Three of my grandparents died. I will miss having Dear Bob 2.0's record of my thoughts on my maternal grandmother's death in particular.
I got a new car.
I went through... stuff. With my best friend.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Oooh, since I joined pweb, eh?
Went through high school, graduated, fell in love with a friend (which hasn't quite panned out), went to college, decided on a major (linguistics) and minor (Spanish), and now I'm starting to look at grad schools.
And when I joined pweb, I had no idea I'd be a linguist, but now it defines me!

-Taught several "evil" men how to love/care for other people. Got hurt in the process.
-Graduated from highschool.
-Went to community college. Had the time of my life with the most amazing people I've ever known... and then lost them later.
-Engaged in substance abuse.
-Lost 40 pounds the wrong way.
-Went to college 4 hours from home. Joined the best college marching band ever. (soundofthesouth.org, kids)
-Engaged in more substance abuse.
-Lost 18 more pounds the wrong way.
-Met a man I thought I loved and was basically engaged.
-Gained those 18 pounds back, stopped with substance abuse.
-Decided to stop being a music major because my anxiety makes me freak out and vomit when I have to perform solo and so on and so forth.
-Moved into an apartment at college the second year here. Existed on a steady regime of 25-30mgs hydrocodone a day for about three weeks because it was the only thing I could find that kept me from freaking out about life.
-Broke up with guy I was going to marry and lost every single friend I had because I hooked up with a guy less than 12 hours after breaking up with that boy. Had to start over completely.
-Lost 10 pounds the wrong way.
-Found new friends in the TKE brothers here and their girlfriends who are amazingly nice and caring.
-Was asked personally asked by the Dean of Student Services to consider attending therapy on campus ASAP, because a few students went to SS and expressed concern for me. Thought it is voluntary at this point, he had a tone that suggested that it wouldn't be voluntary if I didn't start taking care of myself. (BTW, this part just happened yesterday. I'm supposed to call him with my answer/thoughts on the matter later today sometime.)
So hi.
I'm alive and mostly well.

Well let's see here
I've gained several long time friends whom I’ve never actually met in person, but whom I count as some of the best friends I’ve ever had. (Sorry about the lack of consistent communication these past couple years everyone, life is interesting)
Held various jobs, the current one pays well but doesn’t give me much satisfaction. On the other hand, I have plenty of free time at work to visit Pweb, look into immigration, read webcomics (up to 32 now, and contemplating starting my own) and read books.
Started a Luthery business, neglected it to a certain degree, and now it’s on hold for another 10-12 months (unfortunately, life is too busy for something that isn’t quite ready to yield much by way of money)
I joined a band. Nothing feels better than to have someone specifically choose you to be in their band! It’s been around for a little more than three years and has had 4 members for almost 2 years now. We’ve written close to 30 original songs together, with about 18 of them ready to play on stage. We rent a practice studio in Madison, WI and can no longer be considered a garage band. The band started out with the name Learner Won Bronze, but recently went through a name change to “Muted Buddhaâ€. We’ve only played a few local shows as of yet, but we’ve scheduled many more. Even though publications have a hard time spelling our band name correctly, people have given a fair response to our music.
I’ve been in and out of relationships, but finally got into one that will keep.
We got engaged last December. The months since have been all about planning the wedding, and immigrating her. This past August we bought the wedding bands. Pleased to say things are still going very well.
I’ve said goodbye to my dad two times as he left for war. Both times he’s come back safe and sound… though tanned.
I inherited an El Camino from my grandfather. He died, it sucked.
Too many other things to remember.
