"they don't celebrate thanksgiving at the right time of the year" -one more reason for making canada the 51st through 64th states.
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet him, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).

Why not just make it one big state? There can't be more than a couple a' people living there and being the largest state in the U.S. would finally give them something to be proud about."they don't celebrate thanksgiving at the right time of the year" -one more reason for making canada the 51st through 64th states.
EDIT: Happy Thanksgiving, ya hosers!

whoops, 51-63. my math's bad.
They still wouldn't have the biggest population with all that land, that's the funny part.

To answer your question instead of making pointless but somewhat funny jibes at Canada (cuz I'm from here) Yes its on Monday, and theres no school or work unless you work at a convenience store, gas station or fast food restaurant. I dont even think our national donut shop(Tim Hortons for the Yanks) is closed on stat holidays.I have a question about it. Does it actually take place on Monday? I was never all that sure about it.
EDIT: PS, Hegemon, Texas is the biggest state, and as to how large it is, youll have to ask someone from there, or someone who's not too lazy at 2:28 AM (Alberta time) to Google it

Hmm, and today is Columbus Day in the States...any coincidence?
We have a few Tim Horton's in the states, at least I've heard of it. But Dunkin' Donuts is the one that is taking over the world in my neck of the woods. There are literally 7 in about a 15 minute strip of road.

Well. I'm supposed to have class today, but with not one but two international holidays...
SCHOOL IS CANCELLED!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. I have the power to cancel class at the University of Florida. The only question is if everyone else will listen to me...

I e-mailed my prof and told him that due to the fact that it is Thanksgiving in Canada, I will not be attending class today.
Why do y'all have Thanksgiving? (Insensitive American question, but who cares! Tell me!)

I was never sure of the date when the turkey massacre actually falls because it seems to me that having just Monday off is not enough.
For a worker it would usually be fine, but students get kinda screwed. Students want to be able to go home and do the big turkey dinner thing, but if that takes place on Monday then they either have to go back to school that night, or early the next morning.
About the biggest state, I was actually referring to population size. Basically in response to a comment about having so much land, yet us still not being the biggest state.

Hege, it appears the largest state population wise is California, with approx 34 million inhabitants, with Texas following on its rear with about 24 million. Other close ones are Illinois and New York in the 20 millions.
Holy Jesus, California alone has more people than Canada in its entirety.
EDIT: These demographics taken from the US Census Bureau website.

Happy Thanksgiving!
enjoy the food! god, i love big feasting holidays.
i'm surprised there hasn't been a big surge in the "I'm Thankful" thread as a result of the current Canadian holiday and impending American holiday.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

And the actual largest state in land mass is Alaska.

no the difference in timing is that canada assumes that the the thanksgiving feast was on the day that columbus arrived to the americas. that's what our columbus day is.
the US believes that the actual thanksgiving feast (you know the one where the indians gave food to the starving settlers) happened later in the year.
thus we have columbus day and thanksgiving.
darn canucks can't even get holidays right
(of course neither can we because i'm pretty sure the whole indian/settlers thing was only a tale)

Wow, I actually didn't notice how few of us there are.

Um, I woke up early and went birding and got pics of two more new birds. And then did laundry. Woo hoo!
