Re: Web Comics
But my possibly favorite webcomic of all time is RPG World: http://www.rpgworldcomic.com/. Just thought I'd throw that out there, because there are enough super-long lists on here. Ian J's influence goes far and wide.[/quote]
There you have it!
Glad you're enjoying Kota's World. I think the main reason I got hooked was because I didn't have a clue what was going on, but I could tell it wasn't just a series of in-jokes or something like that. The spelling errors bother me more than anything else, too, because they're so easily fixable.

Re: Web Comics
Oops, sorry. I need to learn to read better. There you have it!
There's a whole comic where he mispells "break" as "brake" every times it's used! Since he used that word in about every other sentence, that one annoyed the freakin' hell outta me.Glad you're enjoying Kota's World. I finished it now, by the way. Very odd last few chapters... interesting, but plots involving time travel tend to get confusing and feel a bit retcon-ish. At least some more stuff was explained.
Edit: have you seen this?

Not really a comic, but Cracked.com has recently become one of my favorite sites. Paul and I stayed up until 4am one night laughing our butts off at some of the collumns.

I recently happened upon Gunnerkrigg Court, one anty happened to mention a while ago (Way back on the first page! Wizard!), and I highly recommend. Quite interesting. It has Jeff's Official Seal of Webcomic Approval (tm).

the newest two XKCD comics (about star wars books and that's what she said jokes) are actually conversations I've had with Sara in the last month. It's a little eerie. perhaps she lives a double life writing xkcd and never told me.

Chugworth Academy is updating again! And has been for several months, actually; I just hadn't been checking.
Between Two Worlds also finally resumed updates (yay), and has now finished (boo). So now I'm following The Broken Mirror, but I kinda wonder if Desert Rocks will ever again see the light of day.
Everything Jake is also updating again, though it still doesn't look like any actual new content. But eh, maybe I'll try following it again... and looking at those other spinoff comics.
And hey, if anyone speaks french, you may enjoy Maliki. Allegedly the favourite webcomic of Ian McConville (of MacHall and Three Panel Soul), even though he can't read any of the text. Neither can I, but it looks freakin' amazing. It'd be cool if someone wanted to translate it.

If anyone attended Free Comic Book Day last year, they might have seen the first issue of Last Blood floating around. If you haven't, it's a comic about the last humans alive during a zombie takeover, and the vampires that try to save them! After all, vampires wouldn't be able to survive without human blood, right? Anyway, it's pretty sweet, I didn't know it was a webcomic until I was like "Hey, I wonder if any more issues of that are floating around?"

For regular comics, I like Foxtrot, Get Fuzzy, and Bone (which I haven't seen in years, since around the time Disney Adventures mag took it).
Webcomics? Two words: CUTE WENDY. http://www.cutewendy.com
And it's spin-off Girly isn't bad either (www.go-girly.com), but it's kind of a specific demographic. It's a lot more coherent, too, and who needs that?

Maybe he does, but he's a buggerlover. Maybe he just ran out of ideas....Bill Amend of Foxtrot didn't so much retire as get really really lazy and only do Sunday strips from now on. Maybe he just likes to color
I could have given him plenty...

I would say at this point that all your ideas would be evil, but that pretty much fits in with the Jason continuum, doesn't it?
I miss it terribly. Get Fuzzy is the only thing worth crap in our local rag.

I took a lot of French classes, so I went and took a look. Maybe I need to bust out a French/English dictionary -- I understand a lot of it, but what typically happens is I understand the setup, but then I can't translate the punchline! And hey, if anyone speaks french, you may enjoy Maliki. Why, you are correct, good sir! When humor is top-notch, pacing is perfect, and artist-ery is amazingly smooth, then you have a superb comic. This just in: Tracy Butler is still awesome.
Edit: except for the fact that there's an Einstein reference in a comic about prohibition. I mean, it is possible, I suppose, that a person set in the late 20's would know about Einstein, but I don't believe he would be in such prominence as he would be in a decade or two. Just bugging me.

Jota: that's answered on the about page. Scroll down a bit, depending on your screen res.
Oh, and here's another slightly unrealistic aspect: cats couldn't talk in the 20s.
There's many anachronisms that Butler acknowledges. Zoot suits and some of the automobile styles are a couple, I believe.Edit: except for the fact that there's an Einstein reference in a comic about prohibition. 2003 called; it wants it's whiny bitching back.
Edit: found this little gem recently: http://www.picturesforsadchildren.com/ . Very peculiar, but I couldn't stop reading after a few. And I like the direction it's going in in the past few strips.

I gotta say the current arc of Ctrl Alt Del is really keeping me fascinated. I was really waiting for tonight's update. for those that aren't following it, you can probably pick it up here which is just before some big news come Ethan and Lilah's way. This is my favorite web comic since mac hall went away and I absolutely love what Tim is doing with the entire thing.
And why do I get the feeling that any child of Ethan's is going to be a lot like Calvin.

I understand that lots of people love it, so I'm not going to flame against Buckley too much, but I think it's pretty ridiculous. I love my drama webcomics, don't get me wrong, but I don't look to CAD for that. In fact, I've been wondering why I read CAD for about a year, now, and most things that happen to it only cement that wonderment. But, seriously: the comic was originally a one-shot, fourth-wall-breaking comic, and still does it too often to deny that stupid antics are its main base. I've never sympathized with its zany, unrealistic characters, and seldom laugh at the situations they somehow get themselves into. Then they suddenly have very real, very serious problems, and I am supposed to care about that?
I don't care that Buckley wishes create a comic with drama, but I would prefer that he keeps his webcomic genres separate. He could have two comics, updating half as frequently, and do his drama in one (with some silliness) and his comedy in the other (with no Chef Brian, please).

Honestly, I just assumed he was an attempt at Twist & Catsby, one that is more random, and, somehow, unfunny. I know, I know, CAD never, ever copies Penny Arcade. Ever.
And then the inevitable question appears: if you don't like the webcomic, you don't have to complain about it: just don't read it. The problem is that it can be so much better than it is, and I cling to the hope that the hilarious comics that appear every couple weeks will become the norm, that Ethan will stop with his mad-cap "hijinx"that are painful for real people and painfully obvious.
Again, I don't think the arc is stupid, per se, it just doesn't belong in a comic that normally doesn't take itself seriously, at all. Laughing at a character that nearly burned down his apartment and regularly almost kills himself requires you to distance yourself from him; if you are then supposed to cry because his wife had a miscarriage, you don't want to be distanced. See what I'm saying, or is it just banana-cabbages?

I dunno, the strip jumped the shark for me when Winter-een-mas became a global phenomenon instead simply a joke between friends blamed on a moldy box of cereal and Ethan's dysfunctional brain.
And I think it is possible to feel for Lilah, even if you don't take Ethan seriously. Ethan may be an unrealistic moron, but the rest of the cast is fairly normal.

I love the entirety of Ctrl alt del. the mix of the drama and the zany and the complete non sequitor comics makes sense to me. I sometimes get frustrated that gaming world comics interfere with the character comics, but often those are brilliant as well. I'm more of a casual gamer than a harddcore gamer though. :p
i've seen three panel soul and it never really caught my fancy, but the art was nice.

That's because it's Ian McConville, who is an art... if not god, then some kind of heavenly entity. And while I also think Matt Boyd is awesome, I can understand the humor in this incarnation is less universal.i've seen three panel soul and it never really caught my fancy, but the art was nice.
Edit: TGSA (random comic, not the main page) seems pretty cool. No structure or anything, though, just a bunch of random cool images/mini-things.
