Don't kill me in my sleep, but I'm going with ES. The Speaker series is my prefered branch off by far, but in terms of individual book, there's no question about ES, because I love having a completely topsy-turvy view on a story I thought I already knew backwards and forwards.
Rake me over the coals if you wish.

I was afraid I would be the only one. I've been raked over the coals for it before, but I love ES more than EG. I think it was written better, and I liked the perspective more. I love EG--don't get me wrong--but I adore ES more.

We are alone on an island, with dozens of EG lovers swimming around us.I feel like I'm in an AA meeting.
Hurrah for ES Lovers Not-So-Anonymous! (ESLNSA?)
But, you see, we sided with Bean. Bean is smarter. Therefore, we are smarter than them and will find a way out of this predicament.

For me, it's a toss up between EG and SftD. I think they are both equally awesome. I voted for EG in the end, due to the fact that it was the book that got me hooked on reading in the first place all those years ago, so i had to give it props for that.
Side note, The first time i read SftD i ended up staying up all night reading it cover to cover. took me like 5-6 hours, but i did it... then passed out. i just couldn't put it down.

You and me, Elena, we have to stick together in this mad, mad world of narrow-minded EG lovers. We are alone on an island, with dozens of EG lovers swimming around us.I feel like I'm in an AA meeting.

I could not agree more.I have trouble understanding how SftD wouldn't be everyone's favourite. To me it just seems so obvious that it's the best and you should all be sitting in a corner wearing dunce hats for your foolishness.

They're all just conformists. They don't understand us. It's because they're hicks and we're savvy New York girls who don't conform to what the man tells us to do!You and me, Elena, we have to stick together in this mad, mad world of narrow-minded EG lovers. We are alone on an island, with dozens of EG lovers swimming around us.I feel like I'm in an AA meeting.

yeah... ender's shadow is my favorite book...... if i pick it up and start reading it... i have to read the entire thing... it's the kind of book that just sucks you into it regardless of how many times you've read it before

You know, I just remembered that I once wrote a list of qualities I would like in the person I choose to marry, and preferring SftD to EG was actually on it.

I'm trying to teach myself not to settle. Although, the search does seem to go on and on. I did find someone who read them both. I tried to convince myself it was enough. That it was okay that he preferred EG. Sadly, we were entirely incompatible in a number of other ways, as well. If I'd just refused to bend that rule in the first place, I could've saved myself the time and trouble (there wasn't that much heartache).

This is getting a bit off topic, and maybe I'm out of line, but if you really aren't willing to compromise on the nitty-gritty of a potential mate's book preferences you're never going to be happy with anyone.
Not wanting to settle is one thing, but I try to think about the things that really matter.

Shadow of the Hegemon
I'm going with shadow of the hegemon because it still reminds me of APC's Pet.

how can you call yourself peters girl and not like most of the shadow series?
peter was nucking futs in eg and the one who redeemed him in children wasn't even the real peter.... peter shone in the shadow series.... and if you're calling yourself his girl, i assume you're reffering to the peter that grew and matured in the shadow series... that's a big part of that series.... don't hate
