Desktops!!!
Mine doesn't change near as frequently as it once did, or not at all actually, but I figured I could at least take a new screenshot. (I needed an excuse to remake this thread. )

From left to right:What might the icons between iTunes and TextEdit be?
Colloquy: A Mac IRC client based on the Adium GUI.
BOINC: A little scientific app that uses your extra cpu cycles (Nice) for various distributed computing projects of your choosing.
NeoOffice: A Microsoft Office alternative based on OpenOffice, but it doesn't require X11 and the most recent version has an Aqua interface.
Seashore: Based on GIMP, like NeoOffice this has Aqua and doesn't require X11.
I've actually never used Seashore (or GIMP for that matter) other than a little screwing around when I first downloaded it. I've always done all my image editting in GraphicConverter, although I imagine some of it would be easier in a program with layers.

i am not at ALL computer savvy. and this isn't even my computer. it's my ex-roommate's laptop that she is no longer in need of. so she gave it to me to use until i can afford my own. i love my desktop though. it used to be a picture of me and henry, but clearly that had to change. and this image is ironically appropriate.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Is X11 bad in some way, or something? I don't mean to argue by asking the question, nor am I defending it or anything, but I'm just wondering if it's somehow a nuisance for OSX users, or something.Based on GIMP, like NeoOffice this has Aqua and doesn't require X11.

I can't speak for OS X users in general, but it's a nuisance for me. It adds another step in launching an app, since you have to have X11 running before you can launch an app that requires it. Having menus in the window when you're used to all your apps using the menubar is a bit annoying. It's also just ugly in my opinion.

This is a PC unfortunately, but I at least made it look a bit like a Mac. Maybe that counts for something...
Anyway, while we're on the topic, I have a REAL mac as well, and I just have to recommend this AWESOME piece of software which PWNS the hell out of OpenOffice, Word, NeoOffice, and of course, Textedit. It's called Jer's Novel Writer. It FREAKING ROCKS. I swear to God.

This is my desktop that i changed about 15 minutes ago. Its a screenshot of a game I don't play anymore, but still have on my computer, I just think the screenshot looks awesome and I am proud of myself *smiles*
This is my current desktop. I am definitly a ps2 fan, and I love Shadow of the collosus, and ICO. And don't worry, I know I am a gaming nerd.

Yay for Saras and our Harry Potter desktops!
This is on mine:
... but in the top lefthand corner, I typed my full name in Greek, Russian, Hindi, and Arabic (in that order). You know, just to prove that I'm a Ravenclaw. I've also got two countdown widgets: one until I leave for Barcelona, and another until the premiere of OotP.
Unfortunately, all that is on my laptop, which does not currently have an internet connection, so now I'm on my family computer. My brother put the NY Giants logo on the desktop.

TextEdit does everything I need it to do, which isn't much. I keep Office around for the Excel spreadsheets. I tried Open/Neo but they ended up being too buggy and resource intensive to bother with since I already have Office anyways.I just have to recommend this AWESOME piece of software which PWNS the hell out of OpenOffice, Word, NeoOffice, and of course, Textedit.
