i couldn't very well put Ender at a table with Draco Malfoy. Draco would inevitably say something smarmy, and things would escalate until Ender wound up hitting him round the head with the sugar bowl or some such nonsense.

as it is, Draco can shine onto Algernon and flirt with Thomasina. Ender will certainly get an invite to a different party.

I kind of regret not inviting OSC or any of his characters, but the people on my list are better suited for a tea party than some of his characters. Wow...I think I'm the only guy who has given a list so far.

Wikipedia confirms Ed's last name, Elena. [Edit: Just checked, the subtitles on my copy of Ep08 say the same, too.]

I must say I'm a little confused by a few on eri's. Gates and Mitnick? It seems like it would be hard not to be arguing with them all the time for me (though espeically in your case as well, with Gates).

And yeah, I forgot Menolly. But there are just so many good people to choose from. But Menolly could come. I just have always wondered about getting Mara, Kittiara, Lessa and a couple of the others together and seeing what happened. (As a mouse in the corner).

You are forever on the invite-list to my pretend tea-parties with famous people.
The above quote from DY gave me the instant, irresistable urge to bump this thread. (Is it me or does it seem like the first half of this thread is missing? Maybe my computer is being weird).

Rules (as I concieved of them when I was eight years old) for those who've never played the Tea Party game before:

You may invite anyone you like: living, fictional, or dead. You must invite precisely 13 guests (you are the host, and are not counted as one of the 13), no more, no less because we ALL know what happened in Sleeping Beauty when they didn't invite the 13th fairy because they ran out of golden plates. This is a classic tea party, with tea, and china plates, and mini quiches, and petit fours--not any other kind of party. Ladies ought to wear gloves. Perhaps hats. You will sit at the head of the table as host, and the order in which you list your guests are the order in which they will be seated.

That's it!

The Tea Party of Staving Off Boredom While I'm Home Alone For The Weekend

1. Dessa, singer/song writer
2. Julie, my best friend
3. Cher, from Clueless
4. Lucas, from Empire Records
5. Wash, from Firefly
6. Cat Deely, host of SYTYCD
7. Hurley, from LOST
8. Kurt Hummel, from Glee
9. Mia Michaels, choreographer
10. Allie Brosh, mastermind of Hyperbole and a Half
11. Max, from WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE (book, not movie)
12. Luna Lovegood, from HARRY POTTER
13. Lorelai, from Gilmore Girls

Yeah, probably part of it is missing. I know some threads had parts of them eaten during one of the minor crashes. There's about a page gone from the beginning of the "Smells in My Kitchen" thread.

My Party of Friends:
Mel
Nathan
Nicholas
Liam
Nuno
Beth
Emilie
Brent
Greg
M
Charlotte
Alea
Kirsten

The order of this is rather arbitrary since nobody ever stays put anyway.

10. Ryan J. Stark (author of Rhetoric, Science, and Magic in Seventeenth-Century England)
11. Plato
12. Professor Kirke (from Narnia)

Unlike Voltaire or Dawkins (or Carl Sagan, who I also considered), Ayn Rand thinks she is God. =] More seriously, she's said some interesting things about what she'd say to God if she met Him. Not ask. Say. You know that's gonna be good entertainment.

I suppose it's possible to make a list of atheists who wouldn't at all agree with each other about anything else.

Val: I don't know how many translators that would take, so I don't know that I have 6 seats left. Also, I ran out of founders of major world religions that I could name off the top of my head.

Hrm... technically, Vishnu is a deity rather than a founder... But if I ban deities, I can't include Jesus...

Okay, I'll put some research in, assume translation is taken care of, and finish the list. I'm banning deities.
1) Simon Peter
2) Moses
3) Rabbi Hillel
4) The Prophet Mohammad
5) Joseph Smith
6) Laozi (Taoism)
7) Buddha (Siddhārtha Gautama)
8) Confucius
9) Sri Shankaracharya (Hinduism)
10) Zoroaster (Zoroastrianism)
11) Guru Nanak (Sikhism)
12) Socrates
13) Ayn Rand (sorry, I gotta see it)

Hrm... maybe I should've included Paul rather than Peter and Martin Luther rather than Joseph Smith for quality debate, or Karl Marx rather than Ayn Rand for prominence. I also considered Paul Atreides, but decided he qualified as a deity. I like it as it is.
