I prefer Vera Ellen and Danny Kaye to Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby.
Seriously, her dancing gets better every year. And he's just cuter.
Confession:
I'm really kinda miffed that no one said anything about my haircut.

There's another life out there...

confession:
Amor animi arbitrio sumitur, non ponitur.
I fell in love with one of my best friends. AGAIN! I'm stupid stupid stupid!
confession:
I worry that things won't be okay anytime soon... I don't want to go back to my old ways. I hated those ways. I was happy for so long. Why did something so stupid and insignificant have to mess it up?

I am beyond amused. I'm writing a paper about cultural repression, Stalin and Mao and the Khmer Rouge, etc, and how people in those societies band together to carry out evil against one another, and whether the fact that this is a common response among tyrannical societies means that ordinary people who participate are not genuinely responsible.
It is entitled "In Communist Russia, Morals Repress You."
... three hours of sleep. Due in one hour and 15 minutes. Three pages left.

i strenuously disagree. You know, it kinda defeats the whole purpose of the thread if these things are anonymous. Especially if these last couple are to be taken seriously.
while i understand that knowing the indentity of the person posting a "controversial" confession would allow others to be more comfortable because they would be able to offer help and protection to the confessor in question, i don't think anonymous confessions defeat the purpose of this thread at all. a confession is a confession. and it's not about making anyone else feel comfortable. it's about saying what you need to say for whatever reasons you need to say it. i don't think that doing so anonymously is against the intention of this thread.
i might not mind admitting that i cheated off brooke feldburg on a test on the 3 multiplication table in 3rd grade (true. and i got caught. and properly punished). but i may mind quite a bit admitting that i bought diet pills today. (also true. that above confession is mine. it was made anonymously for a purpose, but i'd rather own up to it now to emphasize my point, than let people get all bent out of shape about it).
sometimes, you just need to say things. put them out there. in the universe. and not be judged for it.
parallells have already been drawn to Post Secret, which i think provides an incredible service to people.
and just because a confession is made anonymously, doesn't mean people can't offer support. start a thread with links to information, 1-800 numbers. whatever.
i don't see what's wrong with saying what you need to say in whatever way you need to say it.
go on. all y'all can jump on my back for buying diet pills now. have fun.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Actually, I was more worried about the suicidal one and the idea that the two might be connected.
The bad thing about anonymous confessions is it's even harder to guess tone than it already is online. You tend to get a feel for the way certain people post over time, but you can't use that knowledge as well if it's anonymous.
Also an anonymous confession isn't so much a confession as an open-ended secret. Everyone knows the secret but they don't know whose secret it is (unless the mods cheat and check the IP logs). For it to be a true confession, you need two pieces of information: who you are and what you did.

frankly, who cares?
confessions are almost never made because other people's lives will be better upon hearing them. confessions are made because there is something inside of a person that he or she needs to get out. it's cathartic. it's about the individual. it's not about making someone else understand or be comfortable.
again, with more serious confessions, i can understand where readers might become worried or concerned. and that says a lot about the empathy and sympathy and other wonderful qualities present here at pweb. that concern is a positive thing, and i'm not saying that it's wrong.
but you're working from the idea that the confession is about the one who hears it, and not the one who makes it. and it's just not.

Right, the most important parts of my previous post were the beginning and end. You seem to have gotten hung up on the middle.
My point exactly. If you can deny everything later, then you really didn't confess anything in the first place, did you? Sure, posting it anonymously might make you feel better, at least in the short term. But in the long term, those anonymous posts will be forgotten and nothing really changes.I like the anonymity; it means if confronted I can deny everything.
The enemy's fly is down.
