Re: Pweb Kids
Jocelyn has spent the last 3 saturdays being filmed for a movie. It's a thesis project for a student at CU. The story is based on the experiences of Andrea Yates and it's trying to highlight the problems of untreated postpartum depression. One of my best friends is the mom in the story and she recruited my baby to play the baby. It's been so funny seeing all these college boys fawning over my daughter! 20 year old boys taking pictures of her on their phones, etc. The camera man is particularly smitten. I heard him say "I'm having such a hard time being objective!" and "I don't want to kill this baby! Can't we find a less cute baby to kill?"*
I ended up playing a friend in one scene and Brian ended up playing the father after the previous actor had to drop out. Although it's been a really fun experience, it's going to be hard to watch the final product. It's definitely a heavy topic, but it's one that I think is important.

Re: Pweb Kids
My two-year old has turned into SUCH a two-year old all of a sudden.
Nearly every time he does not get his way, he howls while throwing his arms up and sinking dramatically to the floor, where he cries his heart out over how difficult and unfair his life is.
I hope this phase ends soon. The hilarity of the gesture is tempered by the annoyingness of the howls. And the fact that it is Every. Little. Thing.

Re: Pweb Kids
Tyler turned 9 on Sunday. For his gift, I gave him Ender's Game with a personal inscription from me. I guess that will be the tradition in our family: their very own copy with an inscription from mom.
I've really struggled with when to share it with him. He's long been at a reading level to tackle it, but I wanted to make sure he was old enough to get it. To identify. I've been worrying all week that it's too soon. He's such a logical thinker that it's hard for him to empathize with book characters. He loves the stories, but he doesn't really understand how the characters feel or why they are motivated in certain ways. I've had some good discussions with him the last few nights, as he's been reading, hoping to help him identify. He's just a few chapters from the end, and I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for him to finish. I just hope, that if it really was too soon, that he'll like the story enough to read it again later when he's older and has developed more empathy. And I'll probably wait longer with the other kids. (Although, Brayden is a SUPER empathetic kid, so maybe not? Gah! Parenting decisions are hard, especially when you're sharing with them something that's so important to you!)

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Re: Pweb Kids
Pregnancy has been mostly good.
I have had a very easy pregnancy symptom wise. Little to no morning sickness, I would get a little nauseous if I hadn't eating in a while/was hungry... then I would eat and feel better. I know I was/am lucky to have no morning sickness but it made it feel not very real. the only real symptom I had was itchy sore breasts, but my cousin told me to put vitamin E oil on them and that symptom went away. Many of the "hard" things have been easy. we figured out names way too fast, We had a girl name in mind since college and literally had one suggestion for first and middle names for a boy (I picked the middle Chris picked the first) and we loved the name. It really didn't feel real until I finally started showing around 16+ weeks. Even having 3 ultrasounds it still wasn't real.
Its more real now, I have a bump, its little but its there... I had a 20 week ultrasound and he is a boy not an "it" anymore. I think I've even felt him moving.
I have always been very open with everyone about most/all aspects of my life, but this I have kept a closely guarded secret...
I had planned on writing a bunch on here and sharing every stupid detail, I was confessions from back in December... I made a second profile (Mama Platypus). And then at 6 and a half weeks I had a very scary experience. We were at a 4 day wrestling camp hours from home and I started cramping and bleeding. Chris was out getting food when it started and I was alone and it was so scary. He came and got me and one of the local coaches took us to the hospital. A super expensive ER trip and many tears later and all we knew was my baby was still in there but they couldn't say if he would stay. I was very shaken, I've always know a little to much about things because of being a Biology major. and one of those things is all the things that can go wrong when pregnant. So I stayed quiet.
I told close family moms dads sisters and brothers. MY cousin who is like a sister and due a month and a half before me. and some local friends who I see all the time.
But my 12 and 20 week scans have been normal, I have to go back and see him again next week because he didn't cooperate and they couldn't get 2 views of his heart that they wanted so they want another scan to try again and make sure everything is ok. So its feeling more real and things are looking ok. So now I'm finally talking about it
Wow that got long... I guess I needed o get it out.

Re: Pweb Kids
Our 4th girl Kylie just came in wearing a fancy diamond ring! We are happy but we hope they wait till she is done with school. Ky is to be a geologist very soon and Cj is a pharmacist and a would be comic writer artist type of thing. He is a good kid and I like him, I have tought him to shoot and drive tractors but he seems a bit scared of planes or me in em or something. This all is putting some pressure on our #3 girl Sarah, she and Mike have been going out for years and I expect to hear similar about them soon. Our boy Jake and his gal Elora " who I like a lot" just bought a small farm near our feed mill. I keep thinking they might wed real soon too being since they were trying to get pregnant n all. That would be neat and pricey to have it all in 1 year but thats the wish.
