VDAY 2017

Postby Young Val » Sun Feb 14, 2010 7:47 am

Most of you will recognize this thread. Newbies won't.

February 14th is--in addition to many other things--VDAY: a global movement to end violence against women.

This is important to me.

I know several women who have been abused. I myself have suffered through abuse. And many other women on pweb have survived abuse.

(This is not to say men can't endure abuse. They can, and do).

But please just spare a moment today for your mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, lovers, wives, and more.

I love you guys.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I added a link to the EA Valentine's Day post. A note of seriousness to accompany some levity :)

Eeeeep....

So I'm in a relationship for the first time rather seriously on a Valentine's Day. But they live out of state from me, and I will be visiting them next week. It's nearly 4 hour trip. Here's hoping it goes well.

I love seeing this thread every year. Well, that's not quite the right sentiment. I don't love that in 2013 women and girls are still so easily abused, but I love that we come together and stick up for each other here.

Love you all!

So...this isn't really that sort of thread but good luck with your lady and/or man friend next week!

Unfortunately, I was not able to dance today (still at work..in Florida), but I DID help produce a local (NY) production of Vagina Monologues, and my daughter (then about 13 or so) was in "My Vagina is my Village."

It's an obviously excellent cause; Eve Ensler is to be lauded!
