We have been doing a lot of this thread's topic.
I refuse to believe it until I see proof.

Happier walls are a happier Alea.

Image Image Image Image Image Image

From left to right:

Wide-shot of above my bed, close-up of above my bed, wall by my bedroom door (owls, if you can't tell), wall at the end of my "walkway" from the front door (also owls), wall by my bed/bedroom window, close-up of wall by my bed/bedroom windows (I made the two on the outside using cardstock and glitter glue and the middle one is two napkins I spotted for the using/taking in the staff lounge).

I now have two walls, maybe three, that I feel need work and then I can be mostly happy. This is an improvement.

I still have pictures I need to hang up and we've been here over 6 months. Go you!

Erica, I never got around to commenting on how much I absolutely love your table; I love counter height tables (which I'm assuming that is). Is the tabletop a marble or marble-like material?

And yeah, Nomi, I've been here 5.5 months and would have had this stuff up way sooner if I actually had it. My last goal, if funds allow, is to buy a s***-ton of 4x6 frames and finally get all my personal pictures up, some of which I still need to get developed/printed.

eight hours of work today, and we worked a lot yesterday on unpacking and organizing the spare room remaining boxes (lots of paperwork put in the file cabinet).

just today we got the can opener installed, got the spare room shelves hung, hung curtains in the spare room as well as curtain hold back hooks, put up a flag pole holder, ran speaker wire for home theatre, hung surround speakers, reupholstered a chair, trimmed the 'escape lever' for the bars on the windows so that they don't stick out six inches into the room), took down curtains in the main bedroom, cut in half the curtain rod brackets (3.5 inches out from the wall, how the hell is a curtain supposed to block light when it's hanging so far into the room?), drilled holes through the rod hangers, bolted them together and rehung them so that they know only extend about an inch and half from the wall, and organized the disaster area next to the fridge (sort of a junk cupboard area). We haven't installed new electrical outlets but that's not really our purview. We still have pictures to hang, that's the next project.

Yes, it's a marble-top, counter height table. The description called it a pub table? I love the two-tone stools, they look awesome!

Nice pictures, btw. I can never figure out what pictures should go where, and it never looks right to me :( I should have you come decorate for me ;)

I thought that said two lone stools at first (one of many signs that I'm either trying to read too quickly or may need glasses soon) and was saddened for the stools' not having anyone.

If I had a way to go play with pictures, you know I'd do it. But hey, I just go with the belief that you can never have too many pictures up, so if you're unsure, just keep putting them everywhere.

Now that you're here, by the way, when is this dress-wearing occasion you were having where you were going to take pictures to show me? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll do a search for where we discussed this ever so important matter.

A picture frame that I filled with pictures I've taken. From top left, going clockwise: Canada Geese, Tricolored Heron, Brown Pelican, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Northern Shrike and Baltimore Oriole.

Well, I've never posted any pictures of my home, I don't think, anywhere. So, here are some of the things on my walls.

Above the doorway, there's this:

Image

Then near the front closet, there are these three photo compilation thingies. The first one is from our wedding. The bottom one is a mish-mash of pictures. One of us pre-Atticus, one of me pregnant, and the rest newborn. And the middle one was Donny's father's day present. The onesie says "Daddy is my Hero" and all the pictures around it are of Atticus and Donny.

Image

This is in the back corner of the living room. (I like it better in person than in the picture.) It and a framed version of my avatar are the only pictures I drew that are up. The avatar is in a silver frame, same size.

Image

This is in the dining area. I could NOT get a picture that captures how awesome it is. It's from Atty's godmother, and basically lists what phase the moon was in and where constellations were on the night Atticus was born, shown over the Wichita skyline. I tried to get a decent picture, though.

Image

Image

You can see this picture in the reflection of the last ones, actually. This is in our dining room. Around the pictures are dried petals from my bouquet.

Image

Then our bedroom. These were both wedding gifts, although we just got the cross stitch a few weeks ago. (Also made by Atty's godmother.)

Image

Close-up of the cross-stitch. The shiny things were on the combs I was wearing in my hair for the wedding.

Image

There are some things I didn't get pictures of, but that gives you a little idea.

There's another way to lean

I just got these trivets for the new place:

Image

A little worried the condo will give me a headache from all the patterns/colors I'm going to have in it when I'm done. This is a first world problem if I ever heard of one.

Those are really pretty! They look plastic, but I assume they are metal or ceramic or something? Are they heavy?

I just ordered them so I'm not sure how heavy they are but they're supposed to be cast iron, so I'm assuming relatively so. :)

I had to look up what a trivet was. My family apparently isn't up on the fancy correct kitchen terms.

In order to even try looking for them online, I googled "kitchen thing you can put hot stuff on."

I didn't want to be putting hot things on the counters (here I don't care, new place, well, it's nicer so I will) so I decided to look.

So... we bought our house almost a year ago (has it been that long already?!). And we're still unpacking (and buying stuff to help organize the stuff we haven't unpacked, yet). Will this ever end?!

I'm hoping to have my basement-office finished soon, now that I've got some extra shelving down there. And then I'll work on the library. And then the 2nd bedroom, then the 3rd bedroom, on and on.

I was planning to take pictures after everything was finished. But maybe I'll just start snapping them as we finish a room at a time.

No. We've lived here for 7 years and it's a constant cycle of reorganization and making things work better. It has never ended for me. (Much to my frustration.)

Don't tell me that, steph!

Every time we move (sadly, that's been four times in the last six years - hopefully this is the last one!), we throw out boxes and boxes of stuff that we never unpacked in the time we lived there. And yet there's still so much stuff!

Excellent. Does it work? For Reece, it would totally work, but for Tara -- well, she would've climbed it.

It's kind of reminiscent of how our apartment in Wichita looked when Atty started crawling. Makeshift barriers everywhere :)

That wouldn't have worked for any of my cats at all. We even have one who really doesn't jump and she would have climbed the heck out of that!
