I don't think Kimmie or Ed were being derogatory or sexist. I think they were being factually accurate.

Thanks, Syphon.

Confessions, have you seen Jersey Shore? All it seems to be selling is watching them all get drunk and sleep around in various combinations. If it was a Jersey Shore guy behaving the same way to a Food Network Star girl, I'd be equally enraged and come up with something flippantly insulting to say about him, too, if that makes you feel better.

I don't know the person in question, but I'm quite willing to believe she's obnoxious.
And there you have it. I was talking about one particular female, not the entire sex. And I was trying to be funny, partly.

But if you want to get down to it, there was some sense of seriousness buried in there. Sure, the phasing (sexist in your words, also Kim's words not mine, though I wouldn't have put it any differently) was for the sake of comedy. But how many people in the world (or on the board, you included Confessions) have not made a poor decision influenced by sex? I know have. I have made my fair share. I probably will in the future too. I hope not, but I probably will. Some sex has such an over powering draw that you can't see the forest for the trees. And I don't think there is anything sexist about that. I think it is true and it goes both ways.

Also, I am not sure the Confessions name needed to be invoked here. If you want to have a discussion about it, then I would much rather know who I am talking to. Or even if you just wanted to voice your opinion on my comment (and others as well), then by all means do so. I have always felt Confessions was meant for a personal revaluation that you needed to get off you chest and didn't feel comfortable saying or you didn't want off board members to find it. Well I guess there is my response and also an unnecessary rant on the Confessions username.

Edit: I was also unaware of the furious dialogue going on in the diversity thread (unless you were talking about multiple threads). There were two posts in the last week of note, one by Noodle and one by Fred. Noodle's received no response and the only response to Fred's was to say someone in the article looked like Josh.

I'm assuming a lot of the assumption isn't because she's a horrible girl, but because she's a horrible person from a tv show where the main focus is on who spreads their legs and for whom, and how often.

Um... so. Back to TV.

Am watching the season finale of Worst Cooks in America. I love this show and Chef Anne soooo much. And both of the finalists. I want to be on the show and learn this stuff! Possibly my very favorite reality gameshow ever.

In part because it really feels like there are no losers. Both finalists leave as credible cooks. And I'm just so darn proud of them both!

^Hahaha. Yes! I still need to catch up with the past few episodes of Community.

I finally got around to watching Twin Peaks. I had always meant to, especially after the Psych episode about it, but it wasn't instant watch on Netflix until somewhat recently.
But, just amazing! I watched it all in about a week. The ending was.... less of a conclusion than I would have liked, but I'm pretty sure it was somewhat prematurely cancelled. I think almost all my favorite shows had the same fate.... Firefly, Arrested Development... The length of Doctor Who's run has made up for that a bit, though :p

So, I finally watched the first season of Downton Abbey. My husband watched the first episode and then wouldn't watch anymore (his loss). I thought the character developments were really good. It was interesting how Mary become much more likable as the season progressed. It will probably be months before I can get season two from the library, which is fine since season three won't be airing anytime soon.

And just fyi, you guys have lots of unblocked season two spoilers in this thread. I saw them while reading through, before I had watched the show.

I was introduced to the stylistically different but equally enjoyable shows, Breaking Bad and Peep Show, this weekend. I didn't expect to enjoy BB as much as I did -I don't generally watch dramas- but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Peep Show was awesome because I often feel about as awkward as one of the main characters is.

Found a place to watch Merlin season 4. Everytime I start this watching this show again, I think to myself, why did Brent and Ali make me want to watch this so much? It's so cheesy! It's so.....AWESOME. I get sucked in and cannot stop.

Pleasantly surprised that Community starting coming back out with new episodes. Enjoyed the one where they were "self-actualizing" and I'm totally shipping Troy and Britta. Tritta?

Is anyone watching Scandal?!

I LOVE it so hard.

The dialogue is quick and clever. Olivia Pope's good guy speeches give me goosebumps. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

It's baseball season, so our TV is usually tuned to FS Midwest. Though, we've been watching a lot of the Stanley Cup playoffs too.

How come no one here watches Breaking Bad?! Frickin' great show.
You and I are going to have a little chat about this eventually. Because I have to say, and no offense intended towards your efforts, this show made me respect chemistry in a way I never have before.

I just finished season 2 and the Nazi library has season 3, which I will hopefully be picking up tomorrow morning.

What I appreciate about this show is how much it makes me question right/wrong and what I would tolerate for myself if I were any one of those characters.

I watched the first episode of Downton Abbey last night and while it was pretty good, it wasn't ZOMG HAVE TO KEEP GOING!1!!!! that the people around me seemed to imply it would be. Maybe it gets tons more interesting after episode one?

Back into Breaking Bad's arms I go. I'll possibly pick up on episode two of DA after that.

I think It helps that all the episodes I watched had a "Next time on Downton Abbey..." at the end that made me really want to keep watching.

I can't remember at what point I got hooked but I do know that I watched the first three episodes back to back, so I'm guessing it was pretty early on.

My husband watched the first episode and was not interested. I think it really gets going after 2-3 episodes. I finished both seasons and I am officially hooked!

I think a large part of my disappointment with the first episode was I didn't read the synopsis or otherwise know much about the show and had the mistaken impression that it was more Regency era England. To see the 1912 pop up on the screen made me experience a mental "awwww :(" but I finished it and was well enough entertained.

I'll give it another shot.

One of our favorite shows and it gets better each season. Just watched the season 5 finale. It was really awesome. "Boldly go..."

Best two shows on TV are Game of Thrones and Modern Family, of course. Game of Thrones completely had me on tenterhooks throughout the freaking awesome Arya/Tywin scene in last week's episode. Damn, how did they manage so much tension, Maisie Williams better freaking get an emmy nomination this year.

For the two whole seasons I've seen so far, this is definitely true. It's one of those shows I like a lot when I watch it but don't make watching it a priority.

So, Downton Abbey Season 2 started off slowly for me and I wasn't sure I was going to get back into it but I did, by about the third episode. Mr. Bates and Anna are probably my favorite characters, with Sybil coming in a close third.

I have a serious girl-crush on the actress who plays Sybil. Not only is she unbelievably hot, but her voice is to die for. Voices will do me in every single time.
