I never did post a picture of Adam and me from October. Look! Another tall Pwebber!

Alternative theory: Pwebbers are not tall; Alea is just short.

Re: PwebCon/Gatherings/Shindigs/Meet-Ups
Now, in the past I've traveled to meet quite a few of you, loved the hell out of it, and would love to keep doing so because traveling is fun and getting to see a part of someone's life is way more fun to me than trying to show mine, even if that is also fun in its own rights.
However, two things have come up that will make traveling difficult for me:
1) New job - no time off yet and while they're nice and will let me take time off without pay or squeeze all my hours into fewer days, I'd rather not be asking for vacation time when I just started and any that I earn will most likely be put to use going back to AZ to see my dogs. I guess the rest of my family, too.
2) I spent more money in the first month of this year than I'd spent in the entire three years before that, combined. I have enough to safely see me through things, assuming no major stuff happens but I can't really be touching that cushion because I like having emergency backups.
So, I figure I may as well try to convince people to head this way.
I know time/money/jobs/families/upcoming nuptials are issues for a lot of people but was anyone interested in trying to get a gathering going this year?
I am lucky enough to know my weekends off for the whole year (with the exception of the big question mark that is June), so I can at least narrow down times for myself and if people didn't need too much privacy and needed to cut corners, I'd be happy to be Hotel G D for a weekend; between my bed (2 people), an air mattress (2 people), my couch (1 person...unless you stacked vertically, then probably at least 2 ), and blankets, I'm sure we could squeeze peeps in if needed.
Just thought I'd throw this out.

Re: PwebCon/Gatherings/Shindigs/Meet-Ups
Stupid upcoming nuptials! (Ok, not stupid, but inconveniently timed, it would seem).
I'll be in Milwaukee for a wedding this summer but that's the closest I'll get to Chicago until post-wedding. WE MUST HAVE ANOTHER MEET UP THEN.
Or y'all could just come to Minnesota. AND I WOULD COOK FOR YOU.

If I do the internship at Mayo this summer, I could be there. Shame Chicago is so far away.Or y'all could just come to Minnesota. AND I WOULD COOK FOR YOU.

Dont't bother, it's a scam. I've been in Minnesota for 24 years, and not once has Kelly cooked for me.If I do the internship at Mayo this summer, I could be there.Or y'all could just come to Minnesota. AND I WOULD COOK FOR YOU.

It's a recruiting technique, you see, and since you live there, no need to recruit you!
Hmm, I might be able to swing WI or MN, since that should be cheap-ish, in theory. I can try to drag zero, too, and given he's only 12lbs heavier than me, it should be pretty easy.

Colorado would be cheap, too. Just sayin'.
Although Brian's trying to convince me to go there, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the complication of my brother who doesn't like me but has to pretend that he does since we're family being an hour away and the obligations that come with that.

1. To be fair, I've only been in MN for 2 years, not 24. Although it's still pretty ridiculous that Chris and I haven't met up yet. We should get on that.
2. If you're on top of things, you can get cheap cheap cheap (as in $1-$15) megabus tickets from Minneapolis to Chicago and vice-versa (David and I have done it before).
Sadly for me it's not money so much as TIME right now. I've got just about every weekend from now through the wedding booked. Seriously.

Also, I'm not sure where I'll be living this summer, since I'm waiting to hear back from the internships I applied for, but I suspect it will be somewhere more sociably agreeable than VT. I'll be wanting to meet some of you if I'm going to be spending 8-10 weeks anywhere within 90 minutes or so.

Yep. People get confused about how I could get so nervous before meeting a person for the first time, even though it's my nth meetup. Well...not every translates the exact same way from their online presence, including me, and sometimes that's good and sometimes not so much. It's very hard to go back to your old relationship having met someone in person. It's totally the fear I have about meetups (going both ways, of course).

For anyone who can and would like to come, we're having a small gathering in Chicago on May 19th, to celebrate Ed's first visit to the city. So far it looks to be around 4 of us, maybe 5 but most likely only 4. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if it dwindles down to 3...Anywho, everyone is invited. :)

That would be really awesome if you could come! I'd love to see you again. Now, you are of course welcome to stay at my place but the only sleeping arrangement options left are air mattress or floor. If that doesn't bother you, you are welcome to stay over for as many of those days as you'd like (though I do go back to work the afternoon of the 21st and before I figured anyone else might come, I got tickets for Ed and I to see the Cubs play on the 20th...others are welcome to "join" us for that but wouldn't be sitting near us, unfortunately).

Re: PwebCon/Gatherings/Shindigs/Meet-Ups
Honestly, be glad you didn't. I'd normally give an overly detailed recap but I'd just as soon forget the details of this one. There was getting turned around at the airport, unpleasant cab driver, 10 mile walk in scorching heat and three white boys with sunburns, my substandard living space including a tub that sucks and a tv that was too small for the aforementioned boys with sunburns, a NATO summit that closed many things, mistiming of pretty much everything on my part, almost making Ed miss his flight...am I forgetting anything? Hopefully!Wish I could have made it!
Scowls, uncomfortable silence, annoyance, and anger were the main parts I remember from this weekend so I pretty much feel like an a****** and never want to share my way of experiencing the city again, because apparently my way of enjoying it isn't a good/fun way. Seriously, having to do every last thing alone is preferable to feeling s***** while bringing others along for the ride.
But have a picture! zero, me, Ed, and Josh
