Where do the smells in your kitchen come from?

Talk about anything under the sun or stars - but keep it civil. This is where we really get to know each other. Everyone is welcome, and invited!

This so confirms what I've been thinking lately - we need a pweb cookbook.
Let's pretend that I have put steph's pweb stamp of approval here.

I suggest that we include recipes from the kitchen challenge, as well.

I should clarify. I really like the idea of a Pweb cookbook and using the stuff from the challenge to help fill it. The only reason I mentioned Steph by name is because she offered Cameron some help in this department in the past. I would gladly take recipes from anyone, for whatever reason.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for but whatever it is can't be too difficult, preferably would make a lot to freeze for later, relatively cheap, and tasty. That last one is probably the hardest to account for, since I'm a picky eater.
This SCREAMS soup to me. Are you a soup person? Soups, stews, chilis, all of that is so so wonderful in cold weather (Chicago!) makes a TON of servings, freezes easily, and can be completely customized to suit your likes/dislikes.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I totally agree with Kelly on soups. I'll see if I can dig up the email that I sent to Kimmie with some of the recipes we used for my sister's freezer. It
included things like mac and cheese, cranberry chicken, salsa chicken, etc.

I just put 6 dinner's worth of chili in the freezer last night. I also currently have sloppy joe meat, creamy green chili chicken enchiladas, chicken lettuce wrap filling and mini pies in zucchini and blueberry flavors. I usually have bags of zucchini muffins frozen, ready to warm in the microwave and eat. I have plans over the next several weeks to add large quantities beef stew, chicken pot pies, chicken rolls, mexican seasoned ground beef (for tacos, nachos, salads, etc), pizzas and stromboli to the mix.

You know you could solve this cooking problem by just coming to live with me, right? ;)

I get my stuff from a lot of places. I subscribe to a number of foodie and recipe blogs, I search Allrecipes for inspiration sometimes, I have a few of Alton Brown's things on file, there are some family favorites, and stuff that my friends share on blogs or Facebook. I also will scour the web for different versions of a particular thing and bring them together into one like I did recently when trying to figure out how to replicate some Polish gingerbread (which has no actual ginger, so I guess it isn't really gingerbread) some friends brought back from their trip/wedding in Poland.

I'm all in for a PWeb cookbook. Or at least a PWeb recipe thread that would kind of be a cookbook (somewhat different from the Smells In My Kitchen Thread)

I'm known as Tony on the internet.

Are you a soup person?

I've not had many but I think I've enjoyed all the ones I have had. Minestrone, chili, stew, potato something or other, tortilla...that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

There are few things better than stepping into a home smelling of a crockpot full of homemade soup or stew or chili.

This is why the next kitchen appliance I am purchasing will be a crockpot.
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.
