Hellow fellow pwebbers. (I haven't posted in a while but here it is)I have always assumed that a hat rack is a rack for hats, but I have recently encountered hatrack as a river in seventh son. I then remembered that Orson's website is also hatrack.com. So my question is; what is the connection of Orson with hatrack?

Im sure some of you on the forums will know the answer right away so I decided to make a post since my googling for an answer was fruitless.

Thanks in advance

You are asking us why he chose the word/name Hatrack for the river in the book and for the name of his website? I don't know. You'd probably be better off asking at the Hatrack forums.

It's actually a track for hat races. If you pronounced it correctly, you'd have realized that.

Yes, they race hats over there. Currently a fedora is leading in championship points system, but a bowler and sombrero are close behind, with a fez and pith helmet in the top five. Really, it's early enough in the season that any of them could win the cup at this point.

simple, you put a hat on the head of a jockey, and the hats race. Big brims help at the finish line but hurt (extra drag) during prolonged races.

seriously though: OSC did once tell me that it was properly a "hat rack" upon which hats are hung... why there was a river in a book named that, idk...
