The greatest day ever!

Postby Boothby » Sun Apr 01, 2007 9:10 am

This has got to be the greatest day ever!

I woke, and went over to my computer to find an e-mail from Scott, and a second one from Mr. Peterson (he says to call him "Wolfgang," but I think I should actually meet him in person, first...but I digress).

The script is complete. It's been green-lighted by Warner Brothers.

And they need me to fly out to California by Wednesday to meet with the technical designers and the special effects houses. I am, after all the fighting and kickign (and begging and pleading) going to be the "Technical Consultant".

The movie is now on a fast-track.

Populating the various technical teams --2 months
Casting--2 months (the same 2 months, actually)
Set design & construction (physical)--6 months

Principal photography begins--October, 2007

The scene at the lake (which I always thought was critical) is IN!. They'll be filming it in Brazil (but of course!) because of the seasons.

CG development begins at the same time as the set design.

Release is scheduled for December 2008.

This is absoluely great!

I'll keep you posted as to what else I find out.

Sorry, but I had to do it.

Just be glad I can't access the home page! (Not that anyone ever goes there, anyhow!)

LOL
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Thank you, Steve. I was wondering about this, earlier.

It wouldn't be a good April Fool's joke if it wasn't at least a little convincing!

These kinds of things aren't supposed to be so depressing when you figure them out... Ender's Puppy is still my favorite, I think.

I have to admit, Ender's Puppy was a classic... and from Pweb 1.0 I think! You're dating yourself (as am I).

Yeah, Ender's Puppy was great... That one actually had me! It is nice to see this end of the forum getting some love though.

Honestly. I found this more convincing than I found Ender's Puppy.

But I'm not saying that I fell for this. It's just depressing because it serves as a reminder: "Holy crap, there's been no real news about this movie for about two years now."

I'm trying to remember what the joke was last year...
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet him, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).

Wasn't last year the Christmas in Battle School miniseries, or something like that?

Are you telling me this is an April Fool's joke? Ahhhh! I just circled December 2008 in my agenda with a great red marker!

That was the hope.

I have already designed a possibe Battle School, and I have....

Stop.

Not just me. Ethan Hurdus, Darian Robbins, and I. Plus a lot of contributions from other fans, through discussions here and on "www.Frescopictures.com"

But we have designed a pretty good Battle School, and have reworked Card's various (and different!) concepts for a Battle School and the Battle Rooms into a very workable concept for both.

Ethan and I gave a pesentation at Endercon in 2002, and I gave a subsequent presentation on material derived from my original concept at an aerospace conference in 2005 (I think).

But, it looks like the movie's hit a major stumbling block...so: who knows!?!

You haven't been here very long DP, and couldn't possibly know how HONEST he was about his involvement. Don't call people liars before you do some research! Some of the people on this site actually ARE intimately acquainted with OSC (who frequently goes by Scott, by the way, rather than Orson).

Unless you mean the April Fools joke... the one written on April 1st. You have to watch for that on this site...

That is, if you care... maybe you suspect he was sincere and just wanted to be aggressive (because that would be so unlike you, right?).
