Who else thinks it will suck?

Postby Darth Petra » Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:02 pm

Seriously. It can't be as good as the book. I'll go insane at every little difference...

lemme guess, you're one of those people that hated the lord of the rings movies because they didn't include every little thing from the books.

the fact of the matter is that no, it will not be as good as the book. that would be impossible. or that is to say that it won't be good for the same reasons. they are two different animals.

what's important to remember though is that while it won't be as good as the book, it doesn't mean it will be bad.

Almost certainly worse than the book. (How could it be BETTER?) But I agree with The Brain... that doesn't mean it would be BAD.

But, but Tom Bombadil was such an important character to the plot!

I love LOTR, but I think Tom Bomadil SHOULD have been in it, and the barrow downs would have been awesome.
Ender's GAme is one of my favorite books ever. And I, being the obnoxious twit I am, must have PERFECTION in movies and books. Ugh, now I feel all...unclean. Excuse me while I trace a woodgrain line...

DP,

Don't worry. There are a few of us here who will not let it suck.

Heck! I gave myself chills this morning as I reviewed (in my mind) the opening sequence with the shuttle falling off the belly of the earth...

I don't trust/like Hollywood. I'm concerened about the acting too...I haven't seen too many good kid actors. The kid from the Sixth Sense was good, but he's no longer a kid....

Well, if you can pull together about $150 million, I can make the movie for you, totally outside of the Hollywood machine.

Otherwise...

Gee, why can't we just post a bunch of YouTube hacks together, like "ENDER'S EPIC," synced to the book-on-tape narration? (legal reasons aside, of course.)

Yes, though if they made her a little more feminine it would surely improve her. A softer, more caring Petra. Maybe they should have her be training as a nurse instead of military genius.

No, it doesn't. The only way it could be worse is if they cast Hannah Montannah as Petra.

Not Movie Petra, Movie Petra needs to be adapted to attract a wider audience. Someone needs to be the toy in the girls' Happy Meal boxes.

Em, I do, but only because they are. And let's face it, you've threatened to kill yourself twice by now if the movie adaption was to your disliking, so if anyone really believed you, you know that movie would be made already, and it would be made badly.

Well, holding OSC in such esteem as a writer, perhaps they're actually idol threats, since the threats are to kill the people responsible for such an adaption (in addition to suicide), and HE is writing the adaption, as far as I know.

okay, it's a bad pun, but I couldn't resist

My enemies are trying to bump me off. That's why it's going to be suckish. I'm just afriad they'll sentimentilize it.

Well, if he's writing the adaption, I won't kill him. He's aWeSOmE  If I killed him, he could never write another book. Which would be depressing.

You know, this whole "I'll kill myself" and "I'll kill someone else" is getting a bit old. And a bit creepy.

Anyone here actually have anything of value to say?

Glad to hear it.

I'm sure if you ever get over that fear, you can find friends here who can help talk you down (if you don't piss them all off first, intentionally or otherwise).

And, as a MOD, I really don't want to be reading idle, stupid threats on this board. Actually, I really don't want to be reading of any sorts of threats on this board--whether you later say you were kidding, or not.

I find with actions like that, even the people who say they never get annoyed probably will, but that's not necessarily a reason to do it. Generally good reasons to annoy people are necessary.
