How should the film be presented?

I am not sure if this has been brought up before. But how would Enders Game be best served?? Personally I think that full blown CG would do it justice. First of all working with kids is difficult. Obviously the ages of the characters will need a +2 multiplier. But even still, getting a nine year old to portray ender the way he should be is pretty hard. Using CG, the only thing you would need is a team of decent voice actors. Also CG would make the battle room sequences much easier. I feel any attempt at superimposing actors (and actress) flying in harnesses through a studio or CG realm, would look like TRON. Granted Tron was flippin' awesome, but i dont think that live action no-grav would look all that convincing...

but seriously adult swim style claymation would be the best thing ever...

If you use the backyard idea, all you also need is a few billion pounds (yes, I'm British) to build a giant space station and shuttle, etc. So maybe the option should be re-titled 'my backyard & up'

Battle School could be a cut-out on a string...

And we'd use squirt guns to shoot each other.

Anime.
I think that was suggested two boards ago, and the response was "Oh my dear god no". I think I still agree with said response.

I am just curious about those who voted for live action...

do you think that it can work?

I really don't feel like it would do the story justice...

Not me - unless by some quirk everyone who has posted in this thread lives in the south of England

So why don't we meet halfway somewhere?

I'm game for vacationing in England.

I think it'll be somewhere in the great plains... I remember seeing a center of gravity calculation somewhere that put it in Colorado... but it was a small sample with a surprising number of westerners.

Lots of forest near me, so it will be good for the squirrel bit, but could be a bit messy with no special effects

Wait- if we can't afford special affects, does that mean we really need Ender to kill Stilson? And how many of us are young enough to be in it, anyway? I look about 11, but I'm really not...

With ALL THE CONTROL OSC is trying to do for the movie, He will never be happy with 1 child actors, 2 directors, 3 Movie Companies.
For such control freaks CG is best.

you are a strangely insightful launchie. except for the bit about CG being best, CG just guarantees that no one takes it seriously outside of teenagers and anime fans. nothing wrong with that genre embracing it, but I think it's a more universally accessible story and shouldn't begin by artificially limiting its audience.

I would not be at all surprised if Marvel (if Marvel is indeed looking at the property for film) wanted to make this their foray into the 300/Watchmen realm. I think perhaps if a movie announcement is going to come out of Marvel it'll come out either the week before or the week after Watchmen releases, before if the tracking on Watchmen is through the roof (maybe even a couple weeks before) and after if the tracking is average but the opening thrashes expectations.

EG is an equivalent property to Watchmen in terms of awareness (as well as time in development hell and perceived impossibility of filming it successfully), they're just in different mediums, so Marvel could use the argument of Watchmen's success with a strong faithful R to make a strong faithful PG-13 EG in that manner, deciding it's possible for a legendary property like EG or Watchmen to turn into a success. They are separate studios, but what happens in the industry matters, and Watchmen's success makes a gamble on EG less risky in the eyes of greenlighters.
