You forgot Shadow of the Giant. Ah well, I'm voting for EG anyway.

You forgot Shadow of the Giant.
I wouldn't be surprised if that were intentional. Stupid Shadow series...

Don't kill me in my sleep, but I'm going with ES. The Speaker series is my prefered branch off by far, but in terms of individual book, there's no question about ES, because I love having a completely topsy-turvy view on a story I thought I already knew backwards and forwards.

Rake me over the coals if you wish.

i love ES too. EG is still my favorite, but i like ES above any of the other ender quartet books. i agree, i loved reading the other "side" of the story and adding to the original battle school scene that intrigued me so much.

Jebus, try to edit the first post. When you do that I think you can add a new option to the poll.

*seconds*

I was afraid I would be the only one. I've been raked over the coals for it before, but I love ES more than EG. I think it was written better, and I liked the perspective more. I love EG--don't get me wrong--but I adore ES more.

Naturally, I am of the humble opinion that both you and Jani need to be raked over the coals for that little bit of sacrilege :P

And John, we're supposed to leave our personal "let's find some random reason to rake Jani over the coals today" urges at the door, remember?

(my first official double post. I feel proud.)

I have trouble understanding how SftD wouldn't be everyone's favourite. To me it just seems so obvious that it's the best and you should all be sitting in a corner wearing dunce hats for your foolishness.

Naturally, I am of the not-so-humble opinion that you have done far more in your life to deserve being raked over the coals than Jani and I together, so after you. :P

We are alone on an island, with dozens of EG lovers swimming around us.

But, you see, we sided with Bean. Bean is smarter. Therefore, we are smarter than them and will find a way out of this predicament.

Such are the consequences of being out of the closet.

For me, it's a toss up between EG and SftD. I think they are both equally awesome. I voted for EG in the end, due to the fact that it was the book that got me hooked on reading in the first place all those years ago, so i had to give it props for that.

Side note, The first time i read SftD i ended up staying up all night reading it cover to cover. took me like 5-6 hours, but i did it... then passed out. i just couldn't put it down.

They're all just conformists. They don't understand us. It's because they're hicks and we're savvy New York girls who don't conform to what the man tells us to do!

It was hard deciding between EG and SftD. I was kind of surprised that I picked SftD!

yeah... ender's shadow is my favorite book...... if i pick it up and start reading it... i have to read the entire thing... it's the kind of book that just sucks you into it regardless of how many times you've read it before

You know, I just remembered that I once wrote a list of qualities I would like in the person I choose to marry, and preferring SftD to EG was actually on it.

I'll settle for someone who has just read them both! (and enjoyed them).

I'm trying to teach myself not to settle. Although, the search does seem to go on and on. I did find someone who read them both. I tried to convince myself it was enough. That it was okay that he preferred EG. Sadly, we were entirely incompatible in a number of other ways, as well. If I'd just refused to bend that rule in the first place, I could've saved myself the time and trouble (there wasn't that much heartache).

This is getting a bit off topic, and maybe I'm out of line, but if you really aren't willing to compromise on the nitty-gritty of a potential mate's book preferences you're never going to be happy with anyone.

Not wanting to settle is one thing, but I try to think about the things that really matter.

how can you call yourself peters girl and not like most of the shadow series?

peter was nucking futs in eg and the one who redeemed him in children wasn't even the real peter.... peter shone in the shadow series.... and if you're calling yourself his girl, i assume you're reffering to the peter that grew and matured in the shadow series... that's a big part of that series.... don't hate
