I'd pick Shadow of the Hegemon, it was too political for me. And just to express myself, I freakin loved Xenocide! It's my favorite in the Ender series.

I'd have to say Xenocide or Children of the Mind. They get really out there, with intricate crazy ideas. The Shadow series was more interesting because it the direct repercussions of the League War. And when you think about it, who's to say today's world isn't heading in the same direction?

Who can ever dislike ANY of them.
I don't know, Card's writing style just rings true to me.
More books, please.

I'd have to say Children of the Mind. As a conclusion, I'd say it was okay, but some parts were a little too soap-opera-ey for me. I actually cracked up during the Novinha vs. Plikt cat fight.

I assume we didn't put Exile on the list because that would make the choice too easy.

Xenocide. It didn't need to be split off into its own book which is what happend. It was originally supposed to be Speaker and then a conclusion but OSC felt he needed more room. I don't think he did. The important parts of X and CotM could have been combined and the redundant scientific explanations could have been cut. We rehashed material once too often to justify separate books in my opinion. But, I still loved 'em.

Also the poll is from before it was written.

I'd have to say Xenocide, it didn't seem that interesting. It took me FOREVER to finish! I like Shadows Puppets, but the ending is not that great.

I'm going to have to go with Xenocide. In retrospect, I understand that every nuance included in that book was vital to the plot line further down the road in Children of the Mind. Yet at the same time, the first time I read Xenocide it felt a little dry. Lots of information; no action. Not saying I didn't love the book -I still love the book. I just think it is the weakest link in the series.

Wow, that's really surprising to me that people like Xeno less than CotM. But to each his own.

It makes me sad. Xenocide is actually my favourite, except for maybe the original itself.

Upon further reading, I'd like to revote for Shadow of the Giant instead of Xenocide. Bean took a back seat to Hot Soup, Virlomi, and Alai and that didn't work for me. Plus, Virlomi is annoying. Can we say Achilles part II? How many crazies were admitted to Battle School?

Wasn't this just voting for the Speaker books not the Shadow books?

For me Shadow puppets drug on and I hated the ending but I love them all even EIE. I know I'm sad.
