Approved

yet the suit seems to have a few stray wires and he's quite creepy looking with those eyes. I always assumed he had darker hair.

The kid's upper half just seems slightly creepy to me.

My initial reaction was "HELL NO." I'm attached to the original cover and hated the kids' version that came out a few years ago, so I processed this as yet another attempt to fix what wasn't broken.

However, having stared at it for the past 15 or so minutes, I've not only warmed up to it, I think it's beautifully done.

The detail is amazing and although I wish he had darker hair (the way I swear he was written), I can believe that's Ender; there's something in the eyes, a duality, that I'm mightily impressed by.

I agree. I like it. I also agree that I was sure his hair was darker.

It's not exactly what I would've imagined, but I like it better than the original cover.

I also saw Ender as dark haired.

The wires seem silly, easy to rip out in battle.

I think he is described with darker hair,
the only thing I can find is Peter with black hair.

Where's the blaster?

The wires do look silly but it also looks like he's missing some plating. Look at the other arm.

P.S. That battle suit is probably one of the best designs I've ever seen. I can just imagen the dragon symbol on his right shoulder.

I thought his hair was darker - obviously the comics said the same thing.

We should just photoshop his hair darker.

He looks like a girl.

Dislike.

I actually see Jayelles point. Looking at it again it looks like a girl of say 8.

He looks like a girl.
That was my first thought as well but I figured it was just me.

He looks a little girlish, but it doesn't fuss me. I still like the classic cover, but I'm okay with this one too.

(I'm a lot more curious about the re-write he mentioned at the end of Ender in Exile, to be honest...)

It's okay. Still like the old cover, but there's a depth to this new one. Taking a first glance, all I saw was a floating boy in a strange suit. Looking deeper, there really is just something that goes deeper. Applauds, but like most every work, there is criticism.

My first impression was: I like it!

Then came: Shouldn't have the wires. In fact, the suit doesn't look much like descriptions, as far as i remember.

I too imagine him with darker hair. Lotta young boys look a little girlish, and vice-versa, but that wasn't something i especially noted in this case.

Overall, I like it.

The suit is awesome in design with or without the wires. It's tighter and sleeker than I imagined, and thus it's better than I imagined. It should be color-coded by team, though, shouldn't it? If not, how can you tell allies from enemies? Nothing in the book suggests that telling allies from enemies was ever a challenge. I'd like to see the gun, but it's no major issue that it's not visible. The helmet is also not visible.

The kid himself looks kinda... wrong. I imagined Ender with dark hair, too, but more importantly his lips look artificially fat, like a Hollywood actress. He doesn't look properly haunted or fiercely capable, but merely bored and maybe a little sad. And what is that light coming out of his palm like luminous stigmata? He's not Iron Man.

Expressions are more telling when animated than when still. Give him dark hair and a Dragon insignia on his shoulder and I'm sold.

Ditto on sleeker, but i like accuracy.

That isn't the impression i got at all. I thought it was a very nicely crafted look of sober, intelligent, steely determination.

The suit is too dark, needs some type of army markings or insignia, and the shoulder bits are far too stiff and armor-like for quick, free maneuvering. The little lights - including the palm one - do not make sense, as they would make the wearer stand out unnaturally.

Details aside, i'd still give it the cover in it's entirety an A-! :D

This is my favorite cover so far. I guess I'm alone in this, but I always imagined Ender as a blond. Nowhere in the book was it mentioned what color Ender's hair is. All it said was that Peters hair is dark.

And then it later says (don't ask me for a page number) that Ender shares a similar appearance (possibly says he's just a smaller version of him), which to me implies hair color as well as facial features. I have no idea why/how Val is a blonde but the idea of Ender as a blond really bothers me.

I like. Tor has this pic available as a wallpaper but it leaves off the words, "Ender's Game." I wanted to use it but was afraid having a little boy (that does look like a little girl) on my computer would make people at Starbucks call the cops. Too pediphilic.

I prefer the original quartet covers with the sci-fi arcologies and the shuttle craft flying around. I don't care that the arcology has nothing to do with the story, it looks effing cool and is part of the reason I picked up the book in the first place.

Things wrong with this cover:
1. Ender is a brunette. I don't care what the book says or doesn't say, in my mind's eye he always has dark brown-black hair and it's never so long.
2. Ender is not a girl. I don't know what that artist was thinking or if he's even read the book, but Ender is supposed to be a bit of a manly man - or at least a manly boy. Hell, even the female battleschoolers are pretty tomboyish. The only effeminate character in the original book is Valentine. That kid looks like Macaulay Culkin's elfish twin sister.
3. That head is too big for the body it sits on. Also, where the #$*% is his neck?
4. While that suit looks cool, it's nothing like how I remember the battleroom suits being described. Weren't they supposed to be big and bulky, kinda like a NASA spacesuit with inflatable areas to freeze shot body parts? In any case, a metallic suit is impractical in the zero-g battleroom. A hard metallic suit would turn a frozen soldier into a deadly human projectile, a danger both to anyone in his path and to himself when he collides with a wall. Besides, a metallic suit is just simply pointless. They don't need any armor, they're shooting each other with harmless beams of light. It's basically zero-g laser tag. The only reason they're wering special suits at all is for the freeze function.
5. Uh... section four ran long and I forgot what else I was going to complain about.
