Great Book!

Postby comn0003 » Mon Dec 01, 2008 1:30 pm

I loved this book! It was such a great story with the Orson Scott Card making it a very easy read. I am relatively new to this genre and with the reading of this book hope many of the books are as enjoyable as this one. I became so involved with Ender while reading this book I couldn't help but get angry at the officials controlling him, but still hoping he was prepared enough to defeat the buggers. The ending of the book was a complete surprise. I kept wandering how it was going to end when he was still not fighting the war but their were so few pages left to read. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and hope its as good as this one.

err, what book might you be speaking of?
"And no one is a better observer of the folkways of the adolescent male than the adolescent female." - Shadow of the Hegemon

"... Some times lies were more dependable than the truth" - Ender's Game

"He [[Locke]] has influence but he doesn't have power"
"In my experience, influence is power"

I'm guessing Ender's Game.
"Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic."

Must be Ender's Game because how many of the other books (excluding the Shadow Series because you normally wouldn't read those before Ender's Game) end with war?
"Killing Buggers was not homicide."
"No, I guess it was insecticide."

A book about Ender, in which he is being controlled, and was going to be needed to defeat the buggers at the end.

You fail at being a detective, Person122.

OK, I didn't really bother to read the entire post; I just skimmed through it. I did notice something about defeating the buggers, so I figured it was Ender's Game.

Im new also and just finished reading it!

I feel the same way as you! I loved ender and his character and felt so sorry for him throughout the story, especially because he is a child. The ending did also surprise me and to me it felt bittersweet, the buggers had forgiven him for what he had done and was treated as hero, even though he would always feel the guilt for his actions. And the fact that he had basically lost contact with everyone he had ever known (except valentine) and he would never be allowed to return to earth...very very sad
