My thoughts... and a bit about the intro...

Postby thatguy1944 » Sat Apr 05, 2008 1:40 am

I find it interestingly difficult trying to get people to read EG, but when they hear sci-fi they get those rolly eyes and such and then they just don't listen to anymore. In actuality there ism't that much sci-fi. I guess people associate sci-fi with the confusing multi-syllable made up words in complicated made up worlds. EG is pretty easy sci-fi reading. I just wish that was easier to communicate to virgin EGer's.

P.S. When trying to get my father (seldom, but semi-open minded reader that doesn't really go for sci-fi) to read EG should he read the intro? or will that just shut him off??

It is really hard to get him into things...
Seriously... just say ih (internal ha) from now on

because it never really is a laugh out loud...

Eh, the intro's not really part of the story. And the story stands well on its own. I say skip it and if they like the book, they can go back and read the intro afterwards.

The intro bored me to death the first time I tried to read EG. Then, I re-read it, and found it interesting.
