~20 years is more than enough to live a very full life when you're that smart and grow that fast.
Spoken like someone who's likely under 20.
I don't think it's entirely unrealistic. It's possible to lead a full life in that amount of time, though most certainly do not. And I think it's just a greater help that Bean is kinda a special case in that he's not in the normal system of childhood that most of us have had, rather than his increased mental capacity.

I don't think it is impossible for a 20 year to lead a fufilling life, especially if that person knows when his/her expiration date is. The only thing that I can think of that would be impossible is watching your children grow up. Which, if you want children, is pretty much the biggest thing ever. But children are not for everyone.
