Ender's Game the Movie - 2013

I was listening to "Ender's shadow" the audio book by Audiorenaissance wherein the final few minutes include an original forward by Orson scott Card. He talks about the stuggle t make Ender's Game into a movie, and explains a revelation from a friend that he would have to roll both Ender's Game & Ender's Shadow into one movie to allow both characters to see the other. Without this it would be difficult to see the whole movie through Enders Eyes, esp, without him narrorating. This forward was writen nearly 8 years ago, however I feel that it is still true for the screen play........

Thoughts?!?!? :stamp:

I dont know if that is true, i can see how it would need to be, but if done right a side movie directed simular to how osc wrote enders shadow. i can't think of to many directors that could pull it off but if done right it would be a dam good movie.

And wait am I the only one who has voted?

Yeah I was just listening to that the other day too. But it seems like it will not be a combination of ender's game and ender's shadow. It seems like they might also age up the characters. So OSC got the screenplay to work some other way. Hopefully it'll work. Yeah and it seems like peter and vals story might not be shown. It's actually quite irrelevant but it was still really interesting.

Yes they redid the script and the story to the older age so that the studio can cast good actors. Face it how many good actors at ages 8 and 10 can pull off the scenes like Ender's fight with Bonzo in the shower room? Still though the script and actor cast looks great. Watch the last trailer.

I answered "no" it won't meet expectations (as compared to the book) - but I would love to have had the choice "No, but it will be good on its own accord" or something like that. If people could manage to watch it as a "stand-alone" entertainment (as those who go see it without having read the book naturally will), I think they'd enjoy it; they will only be disappointed when they start lamenting all the aspects of the book that couldn't be included in the book-to-film translation.

I know it's almost sacrilegious but, it's been SO long since I actually last read EG, that I'm pretty much open for new interpretations. I am suddenly looking forward to the movie... despite some initial misgivings and several other "reasons" to not see it... I no doubt will. Whether or not I see it in the theaters ... or at least right away ... is another thing altogether. I'll almost definitely NOT see it opening weekend.

I'll be seeing it opening night, probably with a large group of friends. I'm not expecting too much. Just an entertaining movie and the nostalgia of having waited 20+ years to see the movie version of my favorite book. :)
