Well, I've been poking my manly half into moving this onto our more secure server, and it is finally going to happen. This time, we will have backups.

We will be attempting an upgrade once we move to the new server, and are hoping this may solve a spam problem. But we will have everything backed up so that if it doesn't work we'll still be here.

Wil has Iced out of Pweb (he's banned)

For those who missed the drama, it mostly happened in Bob (partially in the discussion now split from Bob into the Nice Guys... FAIL thread). Wil replied to a post with a nasty mockup asking if people were with the whiny person above him or with him. The picture violated the pweb terms of service language standards, but more significantly, to me, it was also a major violation of Bob, and the trust we all mutually share in Bob around here. Bob is very special--perhaps sacred even--to pweb. Don't mess with Bob. I took the picture down, and gave him an official warning.

Wil responded in another thread, asking what he had to do to get banned, "maybe post a picture of a big vagina?" and posted a gigantic picture of a member (not in any way shape or form an obscene picture, just a regular pic from the portraits thread which Wil took, enlarged and reposted). The member called me and asked it be taken down. I deleted the post and considered it strike two, since it was the same day, and I figured if Wil could control hiimself after that, no harm no foul in the long term, anyone can be hotheaded and stupid from time to time.

An hour or so later, Wil posted a series of posts bragging about being able to beat our language filters, trash talking members and mods with vulgar language and asking to be banned. Strike three, Wil Iced out. He's banned and as far as I'm concerned he's not coming back.

Since he was banned, I removed the Warned Status when I was making the other modifications to his account to ban him. Some members have contacted me asking what he did to escape punishment by going from Warned back to his default (Toon Leader). I didn't put Wil under KillEvilBanned because that's a completely permanent banning, and since I did the banning myself to deal with the issue expediently, rather than in consultation with other mods (as is usually the case) over several days, I didn't want to make the banning irrevocable. And we didn't just have a banned status--additionally Wil wanted his rank/custom title to say Banned, and I didn't feel like indulging him on that particular count. Today I switched him to "Iced out of Pweb" which will be our regular ban from now on, KillEvilBanned will remain our permanent banning, after the mods decide together if Wil is permanently banned or not we'll switch him to KEB or leave him Iced.

Thank you for protecting this. I've been wanting to say something about this recently, but not enough to stir up the ensuing s***** (or I just didn't have the will to do it). Sometimes it seemed like the only difference in Bob was that replies sometimes got a "I know I shouldn't be replying to Bob, but..." prefixed.

Hey there. A month ago, on April Fools Day, I was banned! But, wait, don't be so quick to delete.. I just wished to make a few things clear.

1) I don't know where this idea came from that I was trying to get people to take sides, or be "with" anyone. Maybe it wasn't abundantly clear, but the entire concept behind my posts were in slight parody of those "I'm With Stupid" shirts.. with the arrows. Yep, simple explanation.

2) I never bragged about being able to get past your language filters. I was instead mocking you, locke, about calling my posting an image as a "clever" way to get past the language filters.. which is not at all what I was doing by posting the image. It was simply the easiest way to #1 in a decently visually appealing way.

3) As far as I am aware, I never called you stupid, lazy, or any other such thing GD. I always considered you a friend; unfortunately you decided that you wished to stop speaking.

4) It is quite a shame that, even despite the fact that it was April Fools Day (not implying what I did was a joke - it was not), nobody gave it any thought to perhaps ask me what I was doing or why I was doing it. In fact, quite sadly, more people thought to ask locke why I had been unbanned (when I had not) than people thought to ask me why I was being an exceptionally large ass that day. Guess it easiest to just chalk it up to him playing his part - chalk it up as him finally showing his true colors. I don't blame you.

5) The last thing; the straw that broke the camels back; I must admit I found quite humorous. I'm sure the member I posted the image of was quite pissed, and I by no means found it EASY to do what I did, but I still found it funny. I'm not sure if anyone caught the reference, but it went back to this same member making a comment about me (a comment that, for reasons known to me, I found to be quite hurtful) for me simply having laughed at what another member had done. Payback; revenge; call it what you will, but I do not regret it.


Anyways, this is all I wished to say. I have no intention of getting around the ban; I hope none have the intention of ever unbanning me. I just wished to make a final few statements, and I waited a month to make these statements so that nobody would get their panties in a bunch and claim I am now "bragging" about getting around the ban. I fully expect this to be deleted, but I still had to try.

Satya's been warned for posting a pornographic link (has been removed). Further such behavior will result in banning. As per usual with warned members he loses his avatar and signature privileges for one month, he can get both back on February 27. And since he's our first member with a custom title to be warned its yet to be decided if he loses the custom title permanently or not.
