How do you become a toon leader?
I only registered here yesterday and I noticed some people had ranks like 'toon leaders'. I was wondering how you get to be a toon leader.

It says in the FAQ... But I might as well not make you search. The ranks depend on the number of posts you have. Most forums have 'em.
They are as follows:
0-50 posts is a Launchie
50-500 is a Soldier
500+ is a Toon Leader
2000+ is a Commander
Some people have other special ranks... It might take a while for you to gain one. I just got mine...
Brian! Where were you?

It was an April Fool's joke that stuck. Post enough that people get to know you as more than a screen name and avatar, and you'll probably end up with one too.

Why do you think that? I think they have increased in quality by far. It's just that it feels like you're not really saying anything in any of them, if you understand what I mean. I have that problem, too, which is why I generally don't post very much at all, but give your opinion in posts, and back it up, you know? Provide content that can be further discussed, that's insightful, that promotes others to really think about what you're saying and come up with a well thought through response. When you post something, I know exactly what I would say back to you instantly. There isn't much thinking through involved, which I think is why you sometimes get negative feedback. But when you write something, ask yourself where that could go, turning into conversation, you know? How can you make others think?

But I'm no good at that. I don't know how to sound smart. When everybody else posts stuff all I think is" I totally agree" and I feel like I can't say my own opinion without sounding stupid. I'm totally overthinking all of this. They say they want me to stick around but everything I do someones says" Why didn't you just do this?" or "Someone already said that". They treat me like a child. When I post something I assume that they understand but they obviously don't.

I have to say that I find it a bit telling the you "slowed down a bit" right after you hit 500 and got the "rank" you wanted.Hahaha that's called dedication, my darlings. But you may have noticed that I've slowed down a bit.

Well, for one, sounding smart is not a requirement for this forum, or else most of the people on here would have broken that rule at one time or another (or many). So don't worry about whether you sound overly intelligent or not. You type with punctuation and capitalization, which automatically helps (provided you're doing it right, which you are). And overall, you definitely don't give off an air of stupidity. You seem your age, and there's nothing wrong with that. But you can state your opinion without sounding stupid, I promise. Just remember to take responses to your posts with a pinch of salt, because other people have emotions and sometimes allow them to play stronger than common sense would dictate appropriate. So sometimes you will annoy others, and sometimes they'll respond in negative ways, but that doesn't mean stop posting your opinions. We want to know what you're thinking. =] Just try to explain it to us, too, you know? Tell us why you're thinking that.
If you agree with someone, but have nothing to add to it, it's not always necessary for you to state your agreement. It's cool to just agree in your head. I would suggest that you read at least the three most recent pages of threads before posting on them so you don't repeat what someone else said. If you repeat something from before that, then people should probably chill about your reiteration. We know you haven't been around for long, so maybe you haven't had a chance to read through everything, but still try to have read a bit before posting your response. I think that'll really help you for that issue.
When you say people treat you like a child, I feel the need to point out that they aren't necessarily treating you like a child, they're just treating you the way they would treat anyone, regardless of age, if they were in your shoes. This forum has been somewhat slow for a while, so whenever new posts show up, people get really excited and really want to read some interesting and entertaining posts. But one line posts generally don't give the satisfaction that we're craving. We want more meat in the message, if you get what I mean.
But you should know that you've definitely provided some activity on the forums, which is awesome. But now it's level two, you've got to get past the child-wolves who are hungry for what you're really thinking. =]

Oh, that makes me feel loads better, honestly. I know that grammer and punctuation always helps, because it helps you to put on that mask of intelligence. It automatically makes your opinions sound smarter, doesn't it? I suppose explaining things helps a lot, too. Though, I usually don't like stating my opinion because, usually, I think so myself "who really cares what you think?" Therefore, I don't post very often at places where my opinion is required.

I usually say things in my head too. I just like putting my opinions out there too even if know one cares. I want them to care, but I can't control what they think. I'm trying to learn to live with that. I want to be an actress so feedback is something I need to get used too. I guess elaborating would help a lot. But when I make big posts I don't think anybody will read them. Some have already made up their minds about me so except for those few who still try to help me figure everything out, I don't habe the best reputation here.
I'm getting better already. I'm typing full paragraphs.

You are! That's awesome, and you're explaining yourself. Sometimes bigger posts are less inviting to read, but generally, most members are going to read them because they're interested in what you're saying. So definitely try elaborating more. I promise I'll read your posts, and I bet Aes over here will, too. Along with many others. =]
Btw, Aes, I had that same problem, of thinking no one will care, but I think you should try to forget that way of thinking. It's a forum, if no one posted their opinions because everyone thought to themselves, "no one will care about my opinion," then the forum would kind of not exist, you know? What's the point of this forum without the opinions and personalities of the people who make it up? So tell us your opinions! Personally, I'm pretty interested! So you know when you think to yourself "who really cares what you think?" Just keep on thinking "Oh, that's right, Kelsey does, and probably a lot of other members on this forum, too." =]
