I love random, just went from "Die m'f'er die" from Eminem to Grand valse brillante in E flat major from Chopin.

I just felt this was the best place to put that.
Your delicious Chopin totally makes up for your horrible start. Touché, sir.

"Die m'f'er die"
I'm not sure why, maybe all the apostrophes, but my brain tried to pronounce this in a weird German-French accent and took longer than I'm proud to admit to realize it was English.

I didn't know it was English until you said something. I brushed it off as another language that I couldn't read.

Really made me laugh :P

Lately I've had a thing for duets, so I've been listening to Tegan and Sara, specifically "Call It Off", as well as Ben Folds' "You Don't Know Me", a very pretty duet with Regina Spektor.

For some reason you all made me think of My Perfect Circle and their horrible, horrible cover of John Lennon's "Imagine".

If you have not heard it, you must. Now.

Apologies if anyone likes that better than Lennon's.

Because there is probably something wrong with you.

A Perfect Circle - http://www.aperfectcircle.com/

And they did a bunch of covers of non-hard rock songs, including Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On"

Jesse, come home,
There's a hole in the bed,
Where we slept.
Now it's growing cold.
Hey, Jesse, your face,
And the place where we lay,
By the hearth, all apart.
It hangs on my heart.

And I'm leaving the light on the stair.
No, I'm not scared, I'm waiting for you.
Hey, Jesse, I'm lonely, come home.

Jesse, the floors and the boards,
are recalling your step,
And I remember, too.
All the pictures are shaded,
And faded to gray.
But I still set a place,
At the table for two.

And I'm leaving the light on the stair,
No, I'm not scared, I'm waiting for you.
Hey, Jesse, I'm lonely, come home.

Jesse, the spread on the bed
Is like when you left.
I've kept it up for you,
All the blues and the greens,
Have been recently cleaned.
And they're seemingly new.
Hey, Jess, me and you..../

We'll swaddle the light on the stair.
I'll fix up my hair.
We'll sleep unaware.
Hey, Jesse, it's lonely, come home.

Go on, be a hero,
Be a photograph
Make your own myths,
Christ, I hope they last
Longer than mine
Wider than the sky
We measure time by
Go on, be a hero,
I set you free
Go on, go on, go away from me

I said, "Do you wish me dead?"
Lip service to books you've read
Articles on how to bed a bird in flight
You called it love
I called it greed
You say, "You take what you want"
I said, "You get what you need"
Go on, be a hero, be a woman
Make your own destiny if you can
Go find a fence
Locate a shell
And hide yourself, go on, go to hell
Go away from me
I need no charity
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I couldn't handle listening to Alan Jackson's Remember When, nearly started crying. Same for Rich Mullins' What Susan Said.

listening to Better as a Memory is much better. oy.

Falling Slowly felt good to listen to.

Monalisas and Madhatters cheered me up.

"Haven't Met You Yet" makes me happy. So does his cover of "I've Got the World On a String."

Strangely, when I first read what you wrote, I could swear you put Rage Against (the Machine), which struck me as odd -maybe not all that odd- since it'd be quite the jump from that to Michael Buble.

Huh... he does "I've Got the World on a String"? I've only ever heard Louis Armstrong's take on that one before.

I'll admit, his "Stardust", while good, still dismays me a bit, because he's missing almost the whole song save for the very ending.

Straylight Run - It's for the Best

Story of my frickin' life.
It takes more time than I've ever had
Drains the life from me
Makes me want to forget
As young as I was
I felt older back then
More disciplined
Stronger and certain
But I was scared to death of eternity
I was saved by grace
But destroyed by naivety
And I lied to myself
And said it was for the best

And now faith is replaced with a logic so cold
I've disregarded what I was
Now that I'm older
And I know much more than I did back then
But the more I learn
The more I can't understand
And I've become content with this life that I lead
Where I drink to much and don't believe in much of anything
And I lie to myself
And say it's for the best

We're moving forward
But holding ourselves back
And we're waiting on something that will never come

Turtle Dove

I heard it on A Prairie Home Companion last week. The versions on itunes aren't as great as they played on the show, but I LOVE this song. it warms up my heart.

Life in a Norther Town - The Dream Academy

I'm singing along with the "Hey-oh ma ma ma" bits, and now realizing that they're not referring to "northern" as in "near Canada" but "northern" as in "near Scotland." As in "oop North." Man, do I feel stupid.

This Train Don't Stop There Anymore - Elton John
You may not believe it
But I don't believe in miracles anymore
And when I think about it
I don't believe I ever did for sure
All the things I've said in songs
All the purple prose you bought from me
Reality's just black and white
The sentimental things I'd write
Never meant that much to me

Kate Nash's new album MY BEST FRIEND IS YOU.

But most especially "Paris" and "Later On."
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant
