Talk about anything under the sun or stars - but keep it civil. This is where we really get to know each other. Everyone is welcome, and invited!

Anachronisms in fantasy

Maybe it just didn't notice as a kid, or didn't have all this preconcieved notions and connotations to go along with words that really don't have any meaning other than the one given to them by the language itself, but...

I don't care how you cut it, but medieval Barons did not have a "Diplomatic Corps" who handled "foreign policy".

A Chancellor to recall an ancient blood pact made between long buried ancient heroes? Sure. A Scribemaster to negotiate the end of lawless war that's ravaging the borderlands? No problemo.

Just a small pet peeve of mine, but I'm wondering if anyone else shared in my annoyance.
"But at any rate, the point is that God is what nobody admits to being, and everybody really is."
