I'm posting about Being Erica in here, because I think lots of people here would love it, especially Jan, Nomi, Steph, Alea, and Kelly (unless the portrayal of publishing is wildly off, then it would drive her insane).
Yeah, it's not at the library or netflix, so I'm not sure how I'll be able to watch it. It's probably because it's a canadian show. It looks like they are going to be airing the third season (and occasional repeats) on SoapNet here in the US but until the repeats start over from the first episode, I'll probably have to wait.

I totally don't suggest looking for it online somewhere.

In addition to adding that Kirsten would also probably enjoy the show, I have to add something to my review. I watched about half of season 2 last night at work (keeps me company while I cook/clean/etc.) and it's notably racier than season 1. Just as a warning to anyone who might not prefer that sort of thing. It's generally not gratuitous, and I think it's dealt with in a very real and human way, and it does advance the plot, but it is there.

New show! The BBC is currently airing a sci-fi show of sorts called "Outcasts." It's an undated future that doesn't seem too far off. The colony of Forthaven was established 10 years past, and lost contact with Earth 5 years past. It's been hinted so far that something Bad happened to Earth. Anyway, in the premiere, a passenger ship has finally arrived from Earth, they don't know what's going on. There's politicking and dark secrets and all, but basically it's the story of a group of people who have only worked out the worst kinks of living on an alien planet and suddenly face a massive upheaval.

I don't know how good it's going to get, but it's kept my attention for 4 episodes so far.

I really want to like Outcasts but sometimes if is just too slow and plodding. Though I do really like the sheer amount of possibly very interesting plot lines they've introduced!

I also just noticed the Being Erica talk; one of my absolute favorites. I love nearly everything about what that show chooses to be.

Most of what I watch (ie Asian stuff...Korean dramas, anime, etc) seems to also be watched by people near me, but I live near an anomaly of an army base ((which is filled with nerds and geniuses)).

however, there was this one Australian show I loved at one time called "Ocean girl."

I'm also a huge fan of sci-fi channel's Eureka and Warehouse 13. freaking looove Warehouse 13.

I bring good(ish) news to all Browncoats!

We're getting a new episode!

We may be getting an indefinate number of new series!

Excuse me while I go and re-watch the first season out of fanboyish glee.

Does "new episode" refer to an actual new/unseen episode of Firefly, or that stuff about breaking down the science of Firefly? Everything I've read indicates that the series is going to run as it was, with those little science extras.

As for resurrecting the show, I hope they don't. It was a great show that ended way too soon, but I don't think the magic of that cast and crew and moment in time could be replicated. It's over. I'd rather have 15 episodes of a great TV show than 30+ episodes of a TV show that used to be great.

No idea as to what the extra episode is, but it looks like it will be the science bit.

And I can't help but think that given that the cast are all so enthusiastic about making more, then whatever they do make will be fantastic. And if it isn't, then what do we lose?

It just means one of the episodes that was finished but not aired before the show got the axe will be shown. It's nothing we haven't seen before.

Yeah, there's nothing new to be seen for Firefly and there most likely never will be. It's over.

There is a written but not aired episode that's quite fun though. But yeah, firefly is over.

Have we talked about Community in this thread?

Cause it's so hilarious. We went on a binge recently and watched all the episodes so far. It's a great show to watch on a binge.

Plus, it stars Joel McHale from The Soup!

I love Community! Lately it's one of the only shows that constantly makes me laugh and want to watch reruns.

Plus, I love Joel McHale <3

I tried the first two episodes of Community and didn't find it very funny. I do love Joel McHale, so maybe I should give it another try in a binge watching manner.

It definitely gets better a few episodes in, and hits it stride halfway through the first season.

I feel like I must have mentioned Community here before, but maybe not. It's great! The episode with "batman" and the CoD4/paintball episodes are probably the favorites amongst my friends.

The paintball episode was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in a long time.

I keep hearing about the paintball episode, but haven't seen it. The trampoline episode is probably my favorite so far, just for the sheer amount of quotes that are awesome from it.

I love Community!

Probably in large part because I love Joel McHale. A lot.

This isn't a show so much as it is a film, but Christopher and His Kind was fairly well done.

It was a bit heavy on the sex for my tastes, but that aside I enjoyed it. It was a different perspective of Berlin in the early 1930s.

Is it somehow possible that I've never brought up Farscape in this thread?

Because it's pretty awesome.

My parents watch Castle and like Nathan Fillion. I'm trying to get them to watch Firefly.

We just finished watching Desperate Romantics last night. It's a short BBC series about the Pre-Raphaelites and full of pretty people, most of them downright bastards.

Does anyone here watch Breaking Bad?

It's always been one of those critically acclaimed shows that I hear about but have never seen. I didn't even know what the premise was until about a year ago, which is when I decided that I really must see it. I mean, it's about a high school chemistry teacher who cooks crystal meth! If nothing else I figured it could give me some tips on how to supplement my income .

Anyway, I've downloaded the first two seasons and watched 6 episodes over the last two days. I'm liking it so far.

I've just started on the third season of The Wire, myself. Has anyone here every talked about it? Probably the most true-to-life show I've ever watched.

Does anyone here watch Breaking Bad?
That's one of the shows that I've had recommended to me for years, and I finally started watching. I love it, but I have only seen like the first 5 episodes. It's hard to watch because it's not a show my wife would like and she's usually with me when we have time to watch TV.

My roommates and I just watched 3 straight hours of Happy Endings. Where as this show been all my life?

The Games that Time Forgot

Utterly ridiculous. Piggyback vs. 56 tins of tuna 100 metre dash. Horseback cricket. Silliness.

Does anyone watch Up All Night? It's about a young couple with a new baby, very funny. I don't have kids but I feel like that's how my life will be when I do.
We drank a $9 bottle of wine and now there's a new person in the world.

I'm not sure if I could watch that or if I'd be too depressed. Says the mommy at 2am - an early night!!

****

Just finished the season finale of Merlin, and I have to say, it rocked. I was very impressed with how Colin Morgan pulled off Merlin revealing himself to Agravaine, and if I wish they'd just get on with it and reveal Merlin's magic to Arthur or someone "good", it was still very satisfying. I was ready to give up this season if they didn't just get on with things, but they ended up with a fantastic season. I was disappointed that Morgana survived, and I am nervous about her teaming up with the little white dragon and would have preferred if Mordred rescued her, but maybe they'll surprise me. Loved loved loved the reference to "Bruta" - more evidence for my theory of the frustrated grad student on the writing staff.

Anyway, if you're not watching it, you really ought to be.
