I agree.
The giants shouldn't even be in the picture. They shouldn't have made it past the packers. They kinda won by default. Didn't play much better than they did. But someone had to win and the packers didn't show up to the game.
That being said, I prefer the giants over the pats.... Buuuut *yawn*

Peyton Manning is coming to Denver.

This is the first time I've ever felt so triumphant at a fighter's victory. The first time I've ever actually, trivially prayed for a someone to win a sport.
I don't think I've ever been this hyped up for a sporting event.

Football season is almost officially here. I won't be getting any Chargers games here, sadly, but I hear they whooped on the Packers in tonight's preseason game.

I've also learned that what the Chargers do preseason and during the season are two different beasts and even if they do well during the season, I should never count out the fact that they will probably screw up big time at some point.

Any bets on how many games in the Chargers will start screwing up royally? It happens every year and much as I love them and want a damn ring for them, it's hard to be truly optimistic.

This is the most apathetic I've been toward the sports world in a long time.

I could really careless about the Eagles. I watch them and I'll root for them because they are my team. And you root for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back. But I am just sick of this regime. Andy Reid needs to go. They have consistently had one of the best running backs in the game with Westbrook/McCoy, but still want to throw the ball 50 times a game. Also, his time management and in game adjustment skills are non-existent. And what can I say about Michael Vick. I don't like him on a personal level and he is the most frustrating human being to watch on a football level. I have always been able to hang my hat on Brian Dawkins because he was one of my favorite players, a great person and the leader in the locker room. But he has been gone for years...*sigh*

The Phillies had there worst season in recent memory. It was predictable, but still. If their starting pitching remains healthy next year, they may have one more shot at another title. But I have zero faith in their GM to make the subtle moves needed to build a champion. All of the moves the team has made since '08 have been flashy, big name, big money moves. And I love Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee as much as then next guy, but most of them have been mistakes. This team has gotten old and traded the farm system away. I hope they can make a run next year and then somehow infuse the team with young talent.

The Flyers...so much anger here. The NHL is a joke. I really think they are going to lose another season.

That's pretty much it. Oh wait...Philadelphia has an NBA team? Yeah, that pretty much sums up my feelings about the NBA.

I am currently rooting for the Orioles. Firstly, because Jim Thome deserves a ring. And secondly, the Yankees deserve to be karmically punished for stealing their playoff series in 1997.

This summed up so many of my feelings perfectly. I supported Andy Reid for a long time, and I still think he's done great things for the team. I also don't think he should be allowed within 100 miles of the field on game day. His play calling and time management skills are simply awful, and he's gotten away with it because of the talent on the field.

The Phillies were unbelievably frustrating this year, especially seeing the team they could have been in the last 6 weeks of the season, even after dumping Victorino and a couple other big names.

Likewise pissed about the NHL lockout... I've had 3 dreams in the past 2 weeks that the season had started, only to wake up and be disappointed again.

NBA? What's that?

The winning streak of post-season elimination games had to end sometime, right?

Speaking purely as a bitter Phillies fan that has no love for the Giants, I certainly hope so.

As division rivalries go, I don't care much about the Broncos or Chargers, but I hate the stupid Chiefs. Plus it's one of the only games we're going to get to see this year, so go Raiders! Woot!

Anyone following the suspension of Mosquera-Perea and Jurkin? I'm curious what people from outside the state think of the NCAA's lunacy.

Well now I'm curious as to what number one is because as cool as it was to see a ball knocked out of the field (and subsequently thrown back into it by the Cubs fans in the street), I didn't think it'd be all that impressive given the number of live sporting events you've been to.

I just saw this and figure I'd respond in here since it is 2013 and all. Well number one will probably always be number one and that was watching the Phillies win the World Series in 2008. Honestly, I don't know how anything could possibly top that. Also, it is very hard to compare moments across sports, especially since I think baseball lends itself toward the best individual moments. Not to mention that a lot of moments tend to blend together after a while. Playoff moments are more memorable, but outside of the Game 5 (both of them) of the 2008 World Series, I haven't really been at the truly unique moments.

For the Eagles, the only moment that could be there is the 2004 NFC Championship game. However, I was sick as a dog on my friend's couch after I walked to his apartment in a blizzard the night before. So football moments are pretty much out. I've never been to a Flyers playoff win and nothing truly remarkable during the regular season. So that leaves the Phillies. I missed out on the unique playoff wins, save the previously mentioned World Series game. In 2008, the Brett Myers walk/ Shane Victorino grand slam game against the Brewers, the Matt Stairs homer against the Dodgers (in LA), the Carlos Ruiz walk off game against the Rays in the World Series or the Joe Blanton (pitcher) home run game against the Rays as well. In 2009, the comeback game against Colorado in game 4 (in Denver) or the comeback game against the Dodgers in Game 4. In 2011, Roy Halladay's perfect game against the Marlins (regular season in Miami) or Halladay's no-hitter against the Reds during Game 1. All of these would have been up there, but unfortunately I wasn't there for them.

In 2009, I was at the game Brett Myers (pitcher) went 3-3 with 3 runs batted in against the Dodgers in Game 2. That was amazing to see, but drama with friends downgrades that moment a bit. I also watched David Bell hit for the cycle in 2004, but he was my least liked player on the team. Plus, on his final hit (the triple), the crowd was booing the umpires because the ball looked to be a home run. The moment that might be number 2 didn't even actually happen during the game. It was being down the left field line while Mark McGwire was hitting batting practice during the 1998 season. It was crazy and terrifying because it was packed, hard to move and the balls were being hit so hard.

But the home run in Wrigely was so truly unique. Not only did we watch the ball get hit out of the park, but we got to watch the entire flight of the ball. From pitcher to batter to the street to back on the field. I might never see that again in the rest of my life. It certainly won't happen in Philadelphia. The dimensions of the of park won't allow for it. There are very few stadiums allow the possibility, so I would have to get very lucky. But I would have to be in the proper seats to see the entire flight of the ball. For you Alea, it might not end up that high, depending on how many Cubs games you go to. Because it happens quite frequently in Chicago, so it isn't as unique. For example, I used to remember the great pitching performances I went to, either complete games or shut outs. They used to be few and far between. But the Phillies pitching staff became so good the past couple of years, they became more commonplace and thus less memorable. So, the homer in Chicago will probably always be in my top 5, unless I get very lucky and see some incredible moments.
