I am very, very angry right now but UofA made dumb choices and UCONN played very well. My only interest in the rest of the tournament lies with VCU -I don't like Kansas, UK or UNC and can't be bothered to cheer on UCONN- and while it's highly unlikely they'll advance any further, a girl can dream.
Kansas and UNC are out... but I have a couple seats next to me on the Butler bandwagon if you want to hop on? :P I'm an Indy boy, and we're still hungry for that victory we didn't get last year lol.

One thing I've noticed is that Butler doesn't have as much talent as other teams, I'll be the first to say that. But NOBODY outworks them. They want it more than anybody IMO, and hopefully they get it.

Ugh, just figures that the two teams I can stomach are playing each other and the two teams I can't stand are playing each other, so that either way, a team I don't like is going to the championship.

I like Brad Stevens, so I wouldn't mind a Butler win but I'd still rather see VCU take the cake. If VCU wins the whole thing, I'll be okay with AZ's loss because it would be completely worth it.

UCONN and UK can both suck it.

I'm on a streak with the Packers winning and the Huskies winning. Red Sox are off to a ridiculously slow start, and yet I still have faith! Here we go, baseball :)

*laugh* I was just thinking this yesterday. I was also wondering what your services would cost should I want you to cheer for one of my teams but I ultimately decided you're probably out of my price range.

Congrats to your team for taking the top prize, even if they did just enter my ever larger and continuously growing group of Teams I HATE. :P

Meanwhile, baseball is here but it's not my favorite sports season and I'm reading all this stuff about the NFL lockout, court, etc. so I'm getting annoyed.

It is clearly cheaper and much more effective to ask me to cheer against your team. It is nearly automatic.

You know, Coach Calhoun is just not a likeable person. I have no problem with people disliking UConn...or the Red Sox for that matter.

About baseball...during the offseason, I always forget why I like it so much. I do think I like NFL a lot more. Still, baseball is drawing me in these days. The games are long and there are a lot of them, but for me it doesn't make it less fun!

well.... aside from the offensive line looking a little strained, i have to say the packers are looking pretty incendiary as well. i hope they can keep this level of play up.

i would love to see packers break the superbowl champion curse.

but as ugly as they were looking in the preseason... this is a welcome change.

keep it up boys!

Good game, Pack! The Saints are a great offense; I expected no less from them. Although I was thoroughly disappointed in the special teams defense, we seem to have already improved special teams offense and have just as much (if not more) offensive firepower (a scary, scary thought for the rest of the NFL). The defense held together (even with Tramon Williams out for some of it, though thankfully it sounds like it's just a shoulder bruise). And the goal-line stand, do-or-die style, was a fantastic climax to a back and forth, exciting game on a huge national stage.

GB was rocking. It was insanity trying to get around. The whole of Oneida St was just shut the hell down. Beautiful thing, Super Bowl champs, opening day of NFL play, small-town party, capped with a very nice win to start off the season.

packers were dynamite in the first quarter. and the offense stayed good through the game. but i think that the defense started playing a little too soft after the 1st quarter though. cuz it kind of felt like they just said "well, these guys aren't a threat, lets kick back and relax". not to discount the saints' offense. they aren't chumps. but the pack have enough defensive firepower to keep them in check, and they were slacking. i'm hoping they don't have the same approach against other teams. entertaining game though.

Surprised and pleased to be watching Buffalo beating up the Chiefs 17 to 0. I know, I know, there are 60 minutes in a game, but still. Did NOT expect this from the Bills, at all.

ETA: Also, my armchair coaching skills are improving every year.

Year 1: all I really ever yelled at the TV was, "GET THE GUY WITH THE BALL!"

Year 2: "Get the guy with the ball!" and, also, "RUN! RUN! RUN!"

Year 3: "HIT the guy with the ball!" "Run, run, run!" "Throw it!" "Catch it!" "Get your asses moving, people!" "KICK IT!"

Exponential improvement, really.

HAH! The Bills beat the Chiefs 41-7. Oh my gosh, I am laughing quite hard. (I took a nap and missed the second half.)

Vikes vs. Chargers -- good game thus far. Go Vikings! (Again, surprised they're doing as well as they are.)

WOOOHOOO!!!!

GO JANIKOWSKI!

63-Yard Field Goal! Record-tying! WOOHOO!

My God, he is just amazing.

Also, Raiders are performing pretty well. Defense rocks, penalties aside. And, amazingly, the Broncos seem bound and determined to surpass them in terms of stupid, unnecessary penalties. Also, I <3 McFadden. And, of course, Janikowski.

ETA: Also, the cats highly approve of our Treats for Touchdowns policy. (It also applies to field goals and f****** awesome interceptions.)

We seem to have lost our kicker for the season. :( We actually seem to have lost two players in the opening game, as well as have a third player who has a minor injury from it. I think I might have preferred a loss than lose any key players but, as good as the lost ones are, I'm not sure they're exactly that, so we'll see how this plays out.

Oh, that sucks, Alea.

~~~
Meanwhile, I am finding our defense's penalties a lot harder to ignore. Especially the f****** personal fouls, for which there is NO excuse. Do your jobs and ignore whatever they said about your mama, mmkay, boys?
McFadden is still amazing, though. Fourth quarter going somewhat better than the third, thankfully. (Not that it's too difficult to improve on that.)
~~~

WOOHOO!!! WE WON!!!

Good start to the season. 1-0. Sweet.

I hear you, Alea.

We were leading 21-3 at the half, and just pissed it away. Oh well. I guess this is more our comfort zone. They wouldn't want to disappoint anyone. Except the fans.

Sigh.

I have some serious internal conflict every year when football season starts. I don't care how much money these people make, I feel awful for teams that struggle so much and even though KC gave my team more of a challenge than I'd like, I ache for them having the first three game experiences they have. Especially after their performance last year. Maybe because I'm a fan of the Chargers and they have a long history of sucking (more) before these past couple of years?

I also half-expected both teams to cycle through every last player thanks to the number of injuries between both teams. It was nice to have the win, especially after last week's loss (Hey guys, the Patriots blew this week's game! So great!), but it wasn't as fun of a win as it would have been against another team.

Uh, also, Rivers? What the f***, dude? Get your act together and quit throwing so many interceptions.

Heee! GREAT week! Raiders won! Woohoo! 2-1! For the first time in, like, a bajillion years! And the Buffalo Bills, of all teams, beat the Patriots! Hell's yeah! And the Chiefs sucked it, yet again! (If my former supervisors weren't huge Chiefs fans, perhaps I'd have some compassion, ala Alea. However, they are and I don't, and the more stomped into the ground they are, the better I feel.)

All I'm saying is that the Phillies better pull this one out. DO YOU HEAR ME, ED?! DO NOT LOSE TO ATLANTA. (You're currently down by one and I do not appreciate it. At all.)

Oh, and if the Cards pull another stunt like they did against the Mets, blowing a 4 run lead in the 9th inning, I will scream.

Meh, I've already given up on this season. The Cards don't deserve to be in the post-season, in my opinion. That said, I just checked the scores and the Cards are up 7-0 while the Braves and Phillies are tied at 3.
