USA Demands Passenger Lists for Sun Flights

Talk about anything under the sun or stars - but keep it civil. This is where we really get to know each other. Everyone is welcome, and invited!

USA Demands Passenger Lists for Sun Flights

So it seems that the TSA has decided to do their best to force Canadian airlines to turn over their passenger lists with as much detail as possible for all flights going over American airspace, despite not landing in the States. It seems that it is for the safety of all people who are flying. Nevermind that Canada does have a no-fly list and that we do have security at our airports. Not to mention that these are flights from Canada to Mexico or the Caribbean and the like with no stop-overs in the States. But apparently it is important that they track exactly who is going over their land.

Where do they get off with doing this sort of thing?

Airspace is airspace. Canada always has the option of going around :)

I don't know if it is right to demand a passenger list, but I don't think it is strange that they would want to monitor planes in their air space. I mean if someone wants to fly a plane into a building, it doesn't have to take off or land in a US airport. Terrorist could just as easily highjack a plane coming from Canada or Mexico and crash into something in the United States. So, it might be a bit extreme, but I do think it is something they should be worried about.

It is standard protocol to state your flight plan, and I'm not at all fazed by the idea of the States knowing when a Canadian plane is flying over. I do feel that it is very invasive of a foreign government to want as much of my personal details, including my itinerary if the airline has it, as is being asked for here. Next they'll be asking to put their own security guards in Canadian airports because obviously Canadian security isn't good enough.

Probably a better idea if we get some Canadian Mounties in American airports...

These guys should be the head of security, then, Stevie?

Now, the moose I'm somewhat okay with. But I don't think we should be placing radical, devil worshiping bears in positions of power like that.

Devil worshipping? To me the bear just looks like he's making some friendly hip thrusts and grinning wildly at his own crudeness.

Don't you know, Jeebsy? All bears are Godless killing machines. The last thing we need is a bunch of fundamentalist bear lovers spreading their radical bear agenda.
