interesting/funny patents

Postby vendor » Thu Oct 04, 2007 11:30 am

I thought this might be a cool idea for a thread. Many patents are for outrageously silly things only imagined. Others are for interesting items that you wonder why haven't I seen that before.

Patent number: 2241577
...but paranoia is all I have!!

Can you fold paper? Then you can patent it. Patent number: 6027819.

It's all just a matter of interpretation.

What about favorite MIL-SPECS?

My favorite is:

Pen, fountain, tear gas, exploding.

It's a real spec, but (unfortunately) now obsolete!

I came across that spec on micro-fiche over 20 years ago; I cannot find any references on the web.

the sheer number of patents for rat traps is amazing. The earlier the better, check out anything before 1900.

Screw modern rat traps. I live in my dad's garage, and I had a mouse problem this winter. Well, one day, I had cleaned my room, and the garbage can was on its side with no bag. When I came back home that night, I noticed a mouse sitting in it. I turned it upright quickly, and trapped the mouse. I gave him a washcloth and some food and water and left him alone. The next day, there were two. Then three. They just kept jumping off furniture into the fooded bucket, and unable to get out. I ended up catching seven mice that way. No muss, no fuss, I actually let them go this morning.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
Miles to go before I sleep

So patent it.
