PWEB Awards

Talk about anything under the sun or stars - but keep it civil. This is where we really get to know each other. Everyone is welcome, and invited!

plus the mods can cheat by seeing the IPs.
Well, you could set up a portable firefox going through a proxy if you really wanted to get round that.

For my friend's birthday someone created an online treasure hunt, with clues in email accounts, deviantart pages and so on. That'd be fairly fun to set up, would we be able work something like that into the framework of the awards?

Aww... I always liked these.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Aren't some of these more razzies than awards?

*shrugs* I said potential, and I'm hardly the authority figure on Pweb Awards/Razzies.

I was just bumping the thread to gauge the interest in it.

I like it, though you might want to add some more- (my suggestions will now be presented. Of course.)

I think we should avoid any that could cause hurt feelings; ie, that are meant to be a little nasty (Most Whiny comes to mind).

Why should non-Americans be "foreign"? The US is not a default state here. These aren't US awards.

Other than that, these categories are more suited to the Rhazzies than the actual awards.

Hmm...I'm opposing this because I can't possibly win any of these. I'll boycott unless there's a 'Best Poster who is also Funny and Smart and Awesome (who is also Yebra)'.

I bet I'd lose that as well. Damn narrative inertia.

I'm going to have to re-raise my objections to Favourite Poster, as it ends up as little more than "Who Has the Most Friends". Instead I'd like to mention again the "Best Pwebber" idea, a category which would decide which member contributed the most and who most defined Pweb for the rest of us. It's similar, but more relevant.

I like the idea of favorite poster because there are a lot of people's posts that I enjoy reading more than others. It has nothing to do with me being friends with them. It doesn't mean that they are the person(s) who has contributed the most, nor does it mean that they define Pweb for me. I just like reading their posts. I will venture into topics that I normally wouldn't just becuase I want to see what that person has to say or how they present their ideas. And, at least for me, has nothing to do with friendship or being the best Pwebber. For example, Dobie is one of my favorite posters of all time. Now, I'm not friends with him/her/it (since I'm still convinced that Dobie is a robot), I don't think he/she/it contributes the most, nor does he/she/it define Pweb for me, but definitely one of my favorite posters.

However, I do like the idea of the "Best Pwebber" and the way you have that catagory defined.

Edit: Because we are Pwebbers not Pwedders...

It'll be a popularity contest either way, but I don't really see anything wrong with that. If someone is popular it's probably because he/she has been a positive contributer here.

It appears everyone here is still in the discussing phase, so I thought I will throw in my two cent (if it is still welcome).

Below are the categories from a former Pweb Award that I tried to host. I know some of the categories might have to be adjusted, especially with the new board.

I also think it would be beneficial of someone, either comes out or is "elected" to take over running this. It will go a lot smoother if one person, with a take-charge attitude is running the whole thing.

I, like I told a undisclosed member, am going to have to take myself out of being that "key" person. I will be willing to assist; but I will be unable to take-charge for this first (most stressful) time. :)

(Besides I still don't think I have gained back the respect that a Pweb Awards Chairperson needs)

Alright, I did not mean to kill the discussion about this, only to help push it along.

If you do not like my ideas, then ignore them I will not be hurt. :)
