Okay...here are a couple of shots of the finished Rocket 88 design I cut from the YAG. I think that this one can truely qualify as my very first stone since it is the first one I got to the polishing stage. As you can see, I wasn't as scrupulous in polishing as I should have been since there are clearly quite a few scratch marks visible through the table on the pavillion. Oh well...what's done is done and I'm not redopping it. It will serve as a good reminder on how I don't my polishing job to turn out; and to be fair, I gotta show the bad with the good.

Anyway, the stats on this stone are 17mm diameter, 13.5mm height and 19.2 carats. (The dam thing's huge!)





And this is the amethyst I completed last night:





I'm still amazed that these are a product of my own hands.

This may sound dumb, but what is a YAG? Very interesting, btw.
