Are you English? Are you one of my students? I hope not because that would be awkward. "Oh, sorry, Admin, I accidentally yelled at one of the undergrads about stapling." "You monster! You'll never teach in this town again!"

When I realised I was actually going to have students one day, I started locking down things associated with this screen name which could identify me. A truly determined student could still probably find me out, but it'd be harder, now.

Are you English?
not since the 1700s ;)

One of my calculator programming communities has a couple teachers hanging around too, and they always get slammed on by the middle schoolers who just want to know how to Mario and Space Invaders on their calculator. you guys have it rough ;)

How DO you Mario and Space Invaders on your calculator? All the calculators I know have an (about) 1 inch screen and no color graphics, which makes it pretty difficult for me to imagine Space Invaders there. Or am I completely off and you're talking about some other kind of calculators I don't know?

Back on topic, I hate it when during basketball, a finger (on any hand, basically) gets hit hard, and you don't see any damage (you don't bleed or anything) but the finger's all big and hurtful. Do you guys know what I'm talking about?

If it's the index finger (by index finger, I mean the last finger from your thumb; do I get it right?), it's ok; but if it's the thumb, then it makes playing harder and more hurtful.

this is my calculator, and there are MUCH nicer ones on the market (89 titanium), but it can play music, do grayscale with some hackery, and play games better than the old school gameboys. I, and a couple other people, have spent time building the necessary hardware to get it on the internet, though it can already do telnet over an oldschool serial modem.

on that note, I hate catching the edge of a frisbee on the tip of my finger.

Now I feel bad for only using my 89T for boring ol' math. My 83 got me through a lot of boredom in middle school, though. I think TI BASIC (or whatever you call it; it's on a TI, it kinda looks like BASIC) was the second language I learned.

Razor blade cuts.
Actually, just razor blades.

I had a flat tire 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I finally had time to go to the tire place and get it fixed. And they found a razor blade IN my tire that had made a hole too big to patch. Damn $100 razor blade.

The standard movie ringtone.

Maybe it's not standard anymore, I haven't heard it in a while but I swear, they use the same obnoxious ringtone in the movies I've seen. I heard it today in The Family Man (go ABC Family for playing it today!) and it's the same one used in Love, Actually when Sarah's brother calls her over and over again. I've heard it in other movies, too, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

I don't think I watch anything with laugh tracks anymore; I'm not big on TV and movies certainly don't have them.

Spidermonkey can too sing! whether or not others will want to hear her sing is a moot point, but she can do it! *wanders off in search of old thread*

Ringback tones. Thank you very much, I'd rather just listen to the normal sound indicating the phone is ringing.

I think I only find these annoying if a) they're a lyrical song. I don't mind just instruments, probably because they're less disagreeable, and b) they are preceded by "Please enjoy the music while your party is reached. And considering that all ringbacks begin with that saying, they all are annoying.

But I think we can all agree those other things are quite horrible and hate-able.

I hate having to leave out details from a paper because I don't have the time to track down the exact location of a citation and I'm afraid of getting nailed for plagiarising. It's not like the writer of the Ancrene Wisse or Julian of Norwich are going to press copyright violation for not stating exactly where in their works they said something.

Amen.

When my phone got stolen, whoever took it put in a ringback tone of some kind of ridiculous rap song. It took me forever to get it changed back to a normal sound. (It's tied to the account, not the phone. So, they did it some time in the 5 hours before I cancelled the sim card.)

Jayelle, do you have to move or are you wanting to move?
We're wanting to move. We live in a 1 Bedroom apartment right now and it's getting too small for the 3 of us. Ginny needs her own room.
Unfortunately, our rent is super cheap here, all the 2 bedrooms are 200-300 more and not as nice as our current place.

Fortunately, if we really can't find a place, there's nothing stopping us from staying here a while longer.

Fat32 supports around 4G files.

OS9 is really your limiting factor... that's a bit old for anyone to have written support for newer filesystems. You have a few choices between just osx and windows, though.
