J and I are soulmate skeptics, too, and we believe that it doesn't make our relationship any less special and worthwhile.

Keeping in mind I can't speak of being in a long-term relationship the way you all can, I'm going back and forth between thinking
With all my heart and all my mind I know one thing is true:
I have just one life and just one love and, my love, that love is you.

And if it wasn't for you, baby,
I really think that I would
have somebody else.
is incredibly sad/depressing and really sweet/romantic.

Also, by pure coincidence, the song my WMP shuffled to last night, that I put on pause because it was bedtime, was Wedding Singer's "Grow Old With You."

I love that song.

With regard to the discussion of soul mates, one true love per person, etc: count me among the skeptics.

Choosing is a powerful act.

The click and drag XKCD.

I saw a bird-watching thing in there and it made me think of Nomi. There was also a Flagpole Sitta (complete w/ lyrics) that just made me happy in general. I think there were other things that made me grin but yeah, very cool overall.

I'm seeing Carrie Underwood next month!

Ah. So exciting. It's been two long years since the first and last time I saw her. I loved seeing her live. She puts on a heck of a show.

Pweb. You guys.

I received a prompt on fb that I should probably check my mail, so I walked down this morning and...... I am so overwhelmed. I don't even know what to say. Except that I love you all so much. You are so much "home" to me. Thank you for all of your love. (Now I have to decide what to do with it!)

P.S. Nomi's crochet work is so beautiful and immaculate. That girl has some serious skills!!

Picture! Picture! (When you get a chance, that is.) Because I have to agree for everything I've had the pleasure of seeing so far.

Also, :kisses:

Love you so much, m'dear.

I meant to say that I'd post a pic, but I obviously neglected that part in my post.

I will post a picture, I promise. I just have to take one and then upload it and I'm too lazy/tired to do that right now. But I will do it!!

I just know I'm going to say this and then something is going to happen to make me feel inadequate but boy, oh boy, do I love my job.

I have to read graphic novels and then tell coworkers why they're valid options for kids to read.

I have to attend a meeting to talk about gaming consoles and how we can bring video games into our library and make them more available to the patrons in general.

I have had to do Star Wars programs, pass out copies of Ender's Game, and make crafty things.

I have one of the best jobs in the world.

I love fall.

I love that it's starting to get darker earlier (I won't love this for long though).

I love the unusually warm weather we're having for October (it was 65 today!).

I love that i've gotten in the routine of getting up earlier then I absolutely have to to get ready for work. I have time to make coffee and check the internet before I have to leave!

I love that my family knows I am gift-giving impaired and make me nice, explicit lists from which I can get them things for the holidays. I know some people think that's not as meaningful but meh. I can't shop for anyone without a list without getting anxious to a higher than normal degree, so this makes everyone happy; they get what they want and I don't get unnecessarily paralyzed by fear.

YES! Fortunately, my entire family is this way, which means everyone is on board with lists. If you don't provide a list, you don't get gifts, it's that simple.

I would not find that helpful, as that basically says "You can get me anything I don't already own." If I could do that for my family, I wouldn't ask for specifics in a list to begin with.

But it gives them an idea of what I like, and what I already have of what I like.

See, I could look around my mom's house or my brothers' houses and see what they own, like, and all that but I would still be at a loss for what to get them that they might also like but do not yet have. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just genuinely suck at going that extra step and this is for people I've known my entire life.

I don't get friends gifts, either, unless they make a point of saying "Get me this", because I am not an intuitively good gift-giver. Without a list, I will panic after spending hours, over the course of weeks/months, trying to come up with something and in the end, won't get them anything. Walking into a store unprepared or browsing online stores like Amazon without a narrow focus causes anxiety problems. I love my friends and family but they're not worth that.
